We cross the Dudh Koshi River and pass through the villages of Chumoa and Monjo before reaching the entrance of the Everest National Park. After crossing a suspension bridge, we pass Jorsale village and walk alongside the Dudh Koshi and Bhote Koshi rivers. We then ascend a steep trail to reach Namche Bazaar, the largest town in the Everest region. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Acclimatization hike day
Everest View Point - We explore Namche Bazaar, the main town of the Everest or Khumbu region, which has government offices, ATMs, internet cafes, shops, restaurants, and a vibrant market. We can hike up to Sagarmatha National Park to enjoy the sunrise over the Himalayas, including views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Kongde. For those interested in a day hike, we can trek to Khunde and Khumjung villages. We also visit the Hillary School and a monastery that houses a yeti scalp. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Trek to Tengbouche Monastery.
Tengboche Gompa - The trek to Phunki Thanga is an easy walk. From there, we ascend to Tengboche village, home to the famous Tengboche monastery, the largest in the Everest region. Located within the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the monastery offers panoramic views of the Himalayas, including Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and Thamserku. The monastery opens at 3:00 pm, so if we arrive by then, we can observe a Buddhist religious ceremony. Overnight in Tengboche.
Trek to Dingboche.
Dingboche - Our trail descends through lush forests of birch, conifer, and rhododendron trees. Along the way, we enjoy views of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. We descend to Debuche, cross the Imja River, and reach Pangboche. Overnight in Dingboche.
Acclimatization hike day
Chukhung - Spending a day in Dingboche helps us acclimate to the high altitude. Instead of staying idle, we climb a ridge behind the village to see six of the world’s tallest peaks, including Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. We also admire Cholatse and Taboche peaks. To the northwest, we see more Himalayan peaks rising above the Khumbu Khola Valley, with Lobuche West, Lobuche East, and Lhotse being the most prominent. From another vantage point on the ridge, we can also see the Imja Khola Valley and the beautiful Dingboche village. Overnight in Dingboche.
Trek to Lobuche.
Lobuche - The trail ascends through boulder-strewn slopes to Chupki Lhara, a ridge offering spectacular mountain views. The ridge is adorned with prayer flags and memorial shrines for climbers who lost their lives on Mt. Everest. As the trail descends to the Khumbu Glacier moraine, we face several great peaks, including Khumbutse, Lingtren, Pumori, and Mahalangur Himal. While crossing the Khumbu Glacier, we also see Mt. Nuptse. Overnight in Lobuche.
Trek to Everest Base Camp and back to Gorakshep
Gorakshep - We ascend and descend mostly on a glacier path, navigating rough terrain. Upon reaching the base camp, we marvel at the incredible melt patterns and ice towers on the upper part of the Khumbu glacier. The Everest Base Camp offers stunning views of Nuptse, Khumbutse, Lingtren, and Pumori mountains. After soaking in the beauty, we return to Gorak Shep for the night. Overnight in Gorak Shep.
Kalapathar hike and trek to Pheriche
Helicopter Landing At Kalapathar - We wake up early to hike up to Kala Patthar. The trail is steep, and the weather is cold and windy. As we climb, we see Lingtren, Khumbutse, and Changtse mountains. The view from the summit is breathtaking, with Mt. Everest and other mighty Himalayan peaks in sight. After spending time at the summit, we descend back to Gorak Shep, which is easier than the ascent. After breakfast in Gorak Shep, we descend to Pheriche for the night. Overnight in Pheriche.
Trek to Namche
Namche Bazaar - We lose approximately 2,000 feet in elevation today, walking on a trail with many ups and downs. We descend through hillsides filled with rhododendron and juniper trees, cross a bridge over the Dudh Koshi River, and rapidly descend through a pine forest where we might spot mountain goats, pheasants, and other wildlife. The path eventually reaches Sansa, offering views of Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and Nuptse mountains. We continue on winding trails through a forest before reaching Namche Bazaar. Overnight in Namche Bazaar.
Trek to Lukla
Lukla - We begin our trek to Lukla on a rocky terrain, mostly downhill along the Dudh Koshi River. We cross several suspension bridges and pass by monasteries and villages before reaching Lukla. After arriving, we spend the rest of the day resting, as it is our last day in the mountains. Overnight in Lukla.
Flight to Kathmandu
Kathmandu - We catch an early morning flight to Kathmandu after our long mountain journey. Upon arrival, we can rest or go souvenir shopping.
