The Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek itinerary begins with an exhilarating flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, marking the start of the mountain adventure. As the flight soars over lush valleys, the diverse landscape unfolds, leading to the Himalayan region where the aerial views of the peaks are truly breathtaking.
Upon arrival in Lukla, a brief meet and greet with the crew sets the stage for the trekking journey. The trek descends to the Dudh Koshi River, following the path that connects with the Namche Bazaar trail above Chaurikharka Village.
Continuing along the trail, the lush greenery along the riverbank is a delight, leading to Dudh Koshi Ghat Village.

After a delightful breakfast, the trek proceeds towards the Sherpa capital. The path follows the Dudh Koshi River, passing through the quaint town of Toktok. The journey continues into Sagarmatha National Park from Monjo Village, approximately three hours into the trek.
Crossing a suspension bridge, the trail descends to Jorsale Village. The trek continues along the scenic riverbank, and after crossing the fifth bridge, Tenzing Hillary Bridge, the path reaches the edge of Namche Ukalo. A steep climb reveals the first glimpse of Mount Everest, leading to the entrance of Namche Bazaar.

Having reached a significant altitude at Namche Bazaar, a day of rest and acclimatization is essential. In the morning, an acclimatization hike to Everest View Hotel (3,880/ 12,729ft) offers spectacular views of Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Thamserku, Taboche, and other peaks.
A lavish breakfast at the hotel is followed by exploration of Namche’s highlights. Visitors can explore Khumjung and Khunde Village, Hillary School, Sherpa Museum, Sagarmatha Next Centre, and other regional attractions.
Namche Bazaar to Pangboche (3,930m / 12,894ft) – 5-6 hrs

After a restful day at Namche Bazaar, the trek continues along the main Everest Base Camp Trek route. The high-altitude trail offers stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
Following the eastern edge of the plateau above Namche, the path leads to Kyangjuma Village. Trekking beside the Dudh Koshi River, the route descends through alpine pine forests to Phunki Thenga.
With views of Tengboche and the stunning peaks in the background, the trail crosses several small villages to reach a bridge. The ascent from here leads to Tengboche Village, offering majestic views of Ama Dablam and Everest.
Hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp (4,570m / 15,000ft) and return to Pangboche – 5-6 hrs
Ama Dablam - Altitude Gain: 640m/ 2,099ft
Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours
This day of the Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek itinerary takes trekkers to the base of the magnificent Ama Dablam, a striking pyramid-shaped peak in the eastern Himalayas. After a luxurious breakfast at Pangboche, the trail descends steeply to the Imja Khola.
The ascent begins towards Cholungche Kharka, an incredible viewpoint. The trek continues uphill on a less-traveled route to reach Ama Dablam Base Camp.
From the base of Ama Dablam, also known as ‘Mother’s necklace,’ trekkers can enjoy stunning views of Thamserku, Cholatse, Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Lobuche, Pumori, and other surrounding peaks.
Pangboche to Namche Bazaar (3,440m / 11,286ft) – 5-6 hrs
Namche Bazaar - Trek Back to Namche Bazaar
Altitude Loss: 490m/ 1,607ft
Trek Duration: 5 to 6 hours
After breakfast in Pangboche, the return trek to the Sherpa capital begins. The descent crosses Deboche and heads towards Tengboche. Switching to lush trails, the path crosses Phunki Thenga to join the Dudh Koshi River bank.
The scenic river trail leads to Kyangjuma Village. Along this exciting path, the stunning views of Everest, Ama Dablam, and other peaks provide a constant companion. A short walk from here leads back to Namche Bazaar.
Namche Bazaar to Lukla (2,840m / 9,318ft) – 6-7 hrs
Lukla - Altitude Loss: 600m/ 1,968ft
Trek Duration: 6 to 7 hours
After enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of this incredible Sherpa town, the return trek to the starting point continues. The downhill trail from Namche follows the beautiful paths along the Dudh Koshi River, heading towards Jorsale Village.
At this point, the edge of the national park is reached. Exiting from Monjo Village, the trek passes through other beautiful settlements. The final part of the trail passes Ghat Village and follows a winding path through Chaurikharka to reach Lukla.
Fly back to Kathmandu (1,400m / 4,593ft) – 45 min
Kathmandu - Altitude Loss: 1,440m/ 4,724ft
Flight Duration: 30 to 35 minutes
