Highlights
  • Sacred Valley of the Incas - Sacred Valley Tour start early and head to the high mountain village of Chinchero, famous for its weaving and spectacularly sited at high altitude (3,800m/12,500 ft.) We will visit a weaving house and have a demonstration on dyeing and weaving techniques as well as visiting the famous Chinchero market. From Chinchero, we descend to the terraces in Moray. Moray boasts three amphitheater-like terraces made by the Incas. These terraces, which are carved deep into the earth in a bowl shape, were thought to be used to determine the optimal conditions for growing crops. When you are done exploring Moray you will head to the salt mines of Maras, which is about 2 miles away. This village is known as a former salt-producing center that is thought to date back all the way to pre-Inca times. There are over 3000 salt pools all carved into the mountain side, being filled daily by a little stream of water.

Fantastic tour! - We booked this experience for February 2024, which is the rainy season in Peru, but we were fortunate enough to have beautiful weather. Our guide for this adventure was Freddy, and he was a wealth of information. We saw so many amazing sights and came away from this experience feeling like we learned a lot. The highlight for us was the second day of the tour when we visited Machu Picchu. Papa Freddy let us take as much time to explore as we wanted and he shared a lot of interesting information. We really could not have asked for more from this tour. We would highly recommend this experience and hope everyone is fortunate enough to have Papa Freddy as your guide.
