Charm City Circulator
Get acquainted with these free busses. They are your ticket to all things Baltimore.
Basilica of the Assumption
Whenever there is a church in town I'm there. I love the architecture. Take the Purple Route of the free Charm City Circulator to this Basilica and take the free self-guided tour. Don't miss the basement (or undercroft) of the church - it's just as spectacular as the main level. While you are our this way, take a few moments to look at the Washington Monument and the Enoch Pratt Free Library.
Fort McHenry
The Banner Route of the Charm City Circulator terminates at this Fort. In the summer the water taxi will also take you here. It's worth a quick visit for the free video in the museum. For a fee afterwards you can tour some exhibits in the actual Fort. Or, for free, walk in the park all around the Fort and enjoy a nice water view.
Federal Hill Park
Some may prefer a daytime view, but I like it at night. If you have time - do both! The Banner Route of the Charm City Circulator will drop you off right at the base of the hill. Climb the steps to a view well worth the exercise. Don't forget your camera!
Baltimore Water Taxi
When I travel I never pass up a chance to see a city from the water - the perspective is always different and well worth it. If you took the Charm City Circulator to get to Federal Hill, take the Water Taxi back. I like this best at night time again as well. The view of the city from water level is unique.
Thames Street Oyster House
They have the biggest menu of raw oysters I have seen anywhere. The best part is you can order as few as just one each. The menu describes the taste and source of each so you can experience the entire American coast from your bar seat.
Fell's Point
It's a great neighbourhood. There are lots of fun bars and a water is never far away. Walk around and enjoy.
I would stay at: Baltimore Marriott Waterfront
The Waterfront has undergone great development. This hotel offers great views, is right by a the water taxi stop, in walking distance to Fell's Point, and is right by a stop for the free city bus (Charm City Circulator).
