World Champion Skier

Adventurer, Foodie, Fine Resort Lover

I love to travel because it is a reminder of who we are and how we relate to the world. My first ski trip was to New Zealand's South Island! Great country with adventure everywhere. I love Lake Tahoe on a late spring day. I wake up early to ski before the public arrives. Then a nice mid-day break at Alexander’s with a good Cabernet Franc and lunch. A few more runs then off to the lake to jump on a boat at the warmest part of the day. That’s Lake Tahoe perfection! A tip for those coming from the Bay Area make the trip during off-peak times! Not on Friday nights during a big storm in the Sierras.

Mountain Biking the Tahoe Rim Trail

The activities not to be missed

  1. A Squaw Valley ski day - one of the best places on the planet on a good ski day.
  2. Hike or mountain bike the Tahoe Rim Trail - one of the best ways to see the beauty of Lake Tahoe and get a great workout.
  3. Power boating the west shore - stop for drinks at Jake’s on the Lake, or Chambers Landing for a rum punch!
Pork chops from PlumpJack Cafe

My favorite places to eat

  1. PlumpJack Cafe at PlumpJack Squaw Valley Inn – for pork chops with CADE Cabernet.
  2. Wolfdale’s Cuisine Unique – for filet Mignon with a good Shafer Merlot or Revolver Cabernet Franc.
  3. Christie Hill always has a great fish selection and incredible lake views.
The view from Chimney Beach

My hidden gems

  1. Tahoe House Bakery on the west shore. Hands down the best coffee and pastries on the lake.
  2. Chimney Beach in the summer on the east shore of Lake Tahoe.
  3. Mountain biking to the top of Stanford Rock near Alpine Meadows, one of the best climbs and downhill rides in Lake Tahoe.

The place I’m most excited to go to next is South America. I want to visit Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and other beach towns to leave the cold behind for a few weeks this winter.
