Waves are better during the morning ! For beginners, Kuta is perfect as the waves are long and small. Many schools can be found nearby and surfers can give you good tips to stand up as long as you can ;)
Rent a bike or a car with driver for the day, and drive to Karma Kandara Resort. Its a private beach but probably one of the most beautiful white sand beach of the island. The view from the restaurant at the top of the cliff is breathtaking and their burger is awesome ! Then you can rest at the beach for a while seeping some cocktails or getting a massage.
Continue to drive until Uluwatu temple, where you'll be welcome by monkeys. Views are really beautiful there. Just be careful of your belongings, monkeys like sunglasses :)
You can stop at another beach to play with the big waves of Dreamland. Now many buildings, cafes appeared but its still a good stop if you like big waves.
For sunset, one of the best spot is the Rock Bar in Ayana Resort. Be sure to wear proper clothes, this is a classy place :p
On the way back, stop at one of the many seafood restaurants. I advise Cafe Melaga, cheap and delicious, take the package with lobster, fish, clams, prawns !
Beginning of the night in Seminyak, get some cocktails in one of the many bars around. I advise Potato head Beach Club for the cocktails, Red Carpet for the champagne, W for a chill out drink.
For those with still some energy, hit the dance floor in one of the clubs around Seminyak. Check the local papers for the latest events. If too quiet, head for Kuta for a more red light nightlife experience !
I would stay in a private villa. There are thousands around Bali, especially around Seminyak area. Prices are affordable especially in low season, they have staff taking care of you (security, maid, cook...) and you can live like a superstar during your stay.
