- Praca Terreiro de Jesus - The first stop is Terreiro de Jesus, where visitors will explore the history of this Brazilian region’s colonization through the efforts of the Jesuit Missions and Portuguese settlers.
- Casa do Benin - This house features a collection of approximately 200 items from the Gulf of Benin, gathered by French photographer Pierre Verger during his African travels to study the cultural exchanges between Africa and Bahia. It also includes pieces related to Afro-diasporic culture, donated by artists and institutions.
- Olodum - The visit includes the Olodum School, an Afro-descendant cultural and educational hub, where the significance of Carnival in the city will be examined.
- Sao Francisco Church and Convent - At the San Francisco Cruise, the story of a 19th-century male organization dedicated to supporting Salvador’s black community in their liberation struggle will be shared. Additionally, visitors will learn about essential African cultural elements, such as samba and capoeira dances, with rhythms that are sure to inspire movement!
- Angola House - The African influence in Brazil is evident in language, cuisine, music, behavior, and religious practices. The Casa de Angola cultural center, housed in an 18th-century colonial mansion, was established on November 5, 1999, to preserve and strengthen cultural ties between Brazil and Angola.
- Cultural Afro Brazilian Museum - This museum offers insights into black identity, Africa as the origin of humanity, the history of enslaved people’s trafficking, black resistance, quilombos, and revolts. It also highlights contributions to cuisine, religion, popular festivals, sports, and music, showcasing a vibrant mix of samba, semba, maracatu, and more.
- Church of Our Lady of the Rosary of the Black People - This association’s mission is to honor the Virgin of the Rosary through faithful adherence to its commitments. The Venerable Third Order of the Rosary of Our Lady at the Gates of Mount Carmel – Brotherhood of Black Men is primarily a Roman Catholic apostolic brotherhood with an African influence. It has maintained its identity as an African diaspora territory with dignity and renewal for over three centuries.
- Elevator Lacerda - The Conceição Hydraulic Elevator, now operating on an electrical system, was once known as “Parafuso” and was the world’s first urban elevator. When it opened in 1873, it was also the tallest at 63 meters. It connects Bairro do Comércio to Cidade Alta in a journey of about 20 seconds, barring any queues. On festive days, be prepared for crowds, as the elevator serves as a daily public transport for city residents.
