- Bodbe Monastery of St. Nino - The Bodbe Monastery, dedicated to Saint Nino, is located in Bodbe, just 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi, Kakheti. Saint Nino holds great significance for Georgians, as she was responsible for spreading Christianity in the country during the 5th century. She spent her final years in Bodbe, which is why Georgians laid her to rest in this monastic complex. Today, many people visit her tomb, as the site is considered miraculous. Visitors often leave with tears and share stories of their wishes coming true. This place is steeped in secrets and stories, which can be felt upon entering the beautiful garden overlooking the Alazani Valley. The nuns residing there maintain its beauty and greenery, reminiscent of the time of St. Nino.
- Signagi City Walls - Sighnaghi is a quaint town in eastern Georgia, perched on the mountainside in the historic region of Kakheti. It was established in the 17th century during the reign of King Erekle II of Georgia. Locals claim it is the only city in Georgia that has fully preserved its fortification wall, which is among the largest in the world. The impressive wall features 27 watchtowers and 6 gates, offering travelers breathtaking views of the Alazani Valley.
Sighnaghi experienced a revival in 2007 when it transformed into a European-style town. Its architecture, with narrow cobbled streets and charming balconies, is sure to captivate visitors. The town boasts two central squares with a wedding house where couples can marry at any time of the day, earning Sighnaghi the nickname “the city of love.” Visitors will discover many cozy accommodations, including hotels and hostels, as well as street cafes and restaurants where they can sample homemade Kakhetian wines such as Saperavi, Kindzmarauli, Rkaciteli, and Mtsvane, among others.
