Arrival in Paro
Paro Taktsang - Begin the day with a hearty breakfast and get ready for an extraordinary hike to Bhutan’s renowned Tiger’s Nest Monastery (Taktsang). Situated at 3,000 meters on a cliff, the monastery is accessible via a picturesque three-hour trek through pine forests adorned with prayer flags. A teahouse along the path provides the first view of the monastery and an opportunity to rest and take in the scenery.
Constructed in 1684 A.D., Tiger’s Nest is believed to be the meditation site of Guru Padmasambhava after he flew there on a tigress. Its location, spiritual importance, and striking architecture make it a must-see on any Bhutan itinerary.
Following the hike, explore Dungtse Lhakhang, a distinctive 15th-century temple designed like a chorten. It contains rare murals and sacred relics that offer a glimpse into Bhutanese Buddhist traditions.
Return to the hotel in Paro to unwind and contemplate this spiritually enriching and awe-inspiring day.

Paro Excursion
Rinpung Dzong - Rinpung Dzong, or the “Fortress of the Heap of Jewels,” is a significant landmark in Paro, established in 1646 by Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Overlooking the Paro River, it serves as both a religious and administrative hub and showcases classic Bhutanese architecture, including whitewashed walls and intricate woodwork. It contains sacred relics and hosts the renowned Paro Tsechu, celebrated for its masked dances and rituals.
Just above the dzong is the National Museum of Bhutan, situated in Ta Dzong, a former watchtower built in 1649. Converted in 1968, it exhibits Bhutanese artifacts such as thangkas, relics, and traditional items that reflect the country’s cultural heritage.
A brief drive from Paro leads to Dra Karpo, the “Split Rock,” a revered spiritual site where Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated. It offers breathtaking views of the valley and is a peaceful place for reflection, attracting pilgrims and visitors alike.
