Superb tour in Dragon Country - Wonderful experience on this birding tour. Our group comprised 12 travellers, most of them above 60. Excellent bird-guide, vehicle, expert navigator, comfortable hotels, well planned itinerary. Cherish the moments sighting the pheasants and many tiny birds and the the trek to Tiger's Nest.

Soul-satisfying Birding, Nature and Culture Tour - Langur Eco-travels prepared a thoughtful and soul-satisfying birding and culture itinerary that ticked all the boxes of a meaningful experience for our group of 7 birders/ nature lovers/ culture enthusiasts from the Philippines. Our trip had 2 parts - the first half focused on culture + opportunistic birding, starting in Paro and ending in Bumthang where we had a chance to participate in festivals (tsheschu) in two significant monasteries in the region. After Bumthang, the group of four returned to Paro to conclude their trip. The 2nd part took 3 of us further east to higher elevations and bumpier roads, where we had great views of target species - Blood Pheasants, Beautiful Nuthatches, warblers, parrotbills, hornbills as well as great views of a Red Panda, three langur species, among others. After the highlands we made our way south towards Mongar and the Gelephu Mindfulness City (a work in progress) for lower elevation birds- peafowl and waterbirds before we headed back to Paro. I wish we could have stayed longer! The 2nd part was especially memorable for lunch picnics and the Bhutan bird festival in Tingtibi, Zhemgang! Not only did we get to see birds, we also had the chance to interact with locals and feel the heartbeat of the community. As for accommodations, Trogon Villa in Yongkola , and the new community-run Berti WBH ecolodge in Zhemgang deserve special mention. On a personal note, I had a "tripping" mishap on our first day, and had to be taken to urgent care. Mr. Chubzang Tangbi, (Langur marketing director and top birding guide / photographer) himself rushed to bring me to Thimphu hospital together with our culture guide Ugyen. My big thanks to Thimphu Hospital staff (intake GPs, Radiology, and ENT) for the excellent care and reassurance. Thankfully the injury was minor (though painful) and served as a reminder that there are many uneven surfaces in Bhutan. I simply had to be more mindful and not rush as much as I do in my city life. Langur Ecotravel truly went above and beyond our expectations by providing comfortable rides and accommodations, great food, topnotch service and the nurturing gracious presence-guidance of our guides and drivers. Truly they were more like family to us than "service providers." They were the heart and soul of the trip. Our birding driver even "composed" and sang a little song for us before we left! I am so grateful to Langur, especially Chubzang Tangbi for such a thoughtful itinerary that incorporated the non-birding elements I requested. Our empowered and relentless guides made sure we went home with no regrets (but raring to return to Bhutan). To all we say Kadrinchoela! This trip will be hard to top. Notes: 1. This is my 2nd time in Bhutan. I also had a wonderful time during my first trip but it was a more straightforward "touristy" tour. For those who want a more immersive experience, I highly recommend a culture and nature-oriented tour with Langur Eco-travel. If you can stay longer than 15 days, that would be best. To cover all the destinations we had a number of one-night stays, which was a necessary trade-off. 2. Flying into Paro from Bangkok: best to stay one day in Thailand so one can be well-rested to make the most of the first day in Bhutan.

One of our best birding trips ever - We had an absolutely wonderful time in Bhutan! Our bird guide Sonam Tshering has loads of experience; he knows his birds and localities, is extremely courteous and speaks excellent English. We were lucky to have a bird guide apprentice along – between them they teased out some skulkers and everyone in our group had brilliant views of big and small birds. The hotels were comfortable and the staff everywhere most helpful. Our kitchen crew who followed in a separate vehicle surprised us with some great meals right where the birds were found and always at a stunning locality with some memorable views. We would choose Langur Eco travels again and thoroughly recommend their fantastic services.

Beautiful Bhutan, beautiful birds - I took a 16 day birding tour with Langur Eco Travels, and we traveled all over Bhutan seeing rainbow colored monal phesants, a great hornbill feeding its mate in a tree, jewel colored flycatchers, so many birds! I was a solo female traveler, but Namgay and Pema took such great care of my trip, it was a great time. No regrets, I'm sad to be leaving Bhutan!

Wonderful birding adventure in the happiest country - Bhutan! - The weather was pleasant for all 15 days of the tour. People are nice and eager to show off their country. We were a group of 9 birders and traveled in a comfortable Toyota bus, covering 12 of Bhutan's 20 provinces. The birds were spectacular - Parrotbills, Laughingthrushes, Sunbirds and knockout pheasants. Pleasant lodges, good food and fascinating culture.

Birding tour of Bhutan - From April 30 until May 10, 2024, I had the great pleasure of being part of a birding tour run by Langur Eco Travels and led by Chubsang Tangbi and his colleague, Jigme Tshering. After having lead tours myself for 35 years to more than 30 countries, I recognized almost immediately that Chubsang was exceptional in his ability to find and show us the most difficult-to-see bird species in Bhutan. We had breathtaking and leisurely views of four pheasant species, Himalayan Monal, Kalij Pheasant, Blood Pheasant, and Satyr Tragopan at close range for photography. Cutia, Ibisbill, Ward’s Trogon and Honeyguide were a few of the 240 species seen on our final list. Chubsang has exceptional hearing which allowed us to locate and see many elusive, low-density species. The logistics for the trip were superb with excellent accommodations and food throughout. Our professional driver was helpful and efficient and we always felt safe while birding or driving on mountain roads. Although we concentrated on Bhutan's natural history, at our request Chubsang made time for a visit to Bhutan’s first and perhaps the most beautiful of the 22 ancient temple-fortresses or dzongs. Based on my experience I can recommend Chubsang and Langur Eco Tours without reservation for any natural history tour of Bhutan.

Interesting trip - The trip was very well planned and the company was very good at communication which made us feel very reassured. The country was beautiful with fantastic scenery and wildlife. All the hotels were fine for us, clean, tidy, good beds and friendly staff. Namgay is an absolutely brilliant bird guide and a very nice person. He was very attentive, kind and thoughtful. The driver was a very good and we always felt safe. From the minute we met the driver he was coughing and he seemed unwell. We now feel in retrospect that he should not have been driving on this trip. If that was not possible he should at the very least have been wearing a mask whilst driving, which he did not. Within a few days we were both ill with a respiratory infection and over time we got considerably worse requiring a visit to hospital for medication. What should have been a trip of a lifetime ended up being an endurance test & we had to cut short several days birding as we were so ill. The company owner has since replied to our concerns and assured us that company policy has been changed so that such things will not happen again.
