Arrival at Paro Airport - Thimphu

Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge - The flight to Paro offers stunning and breathtaking views of the Himalayan Mountains. If the weather is clear, you might catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest (8848 m, 29,198ft) and other Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival at Paro International Airport, our representative (Guide) will welcome you and drive you to Thimphu (50km), a journey of about an hour. On the way, visit Tachog Lhakhang, located along the Paro-Thimphu highway, just before Chhuzom. It’s a short 10-minute walk from the highway and a fantastic spot for photography with its beautiful views and serene atmosphere.

Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten) - One of the most popular attractions in Thimphu, this chorten is a daily place of worship for many locals. The Memorial Chorten is frequented by elderly people, children, and others on their way to work, school, or home.

Motithang Takin Preserve - Also known as the Mini Zoo, this small natural preserve is home to the Takin, Bhutan’s national animal. This rare goat-antelope species is unique to Bhutan.

Thangthong Dewachen Nunnery - Also known as Druthob Goemba, this nunnery was built over half a century ago and houses around 60 nuns. The peaceful surroundings make it a rejuvenating visit, and you can capture a spectacular view of Tashichho Dzong from here.

Jungshi handmade paper factory - Known for producing traditional paper using ancient methods, the Jungshi factory offers visitors a demonstration of the paper-making process. It’s a popular activity in Thimphu, and you can purchase unique paper souvenirs here.

Changlimithang Stadium & Archery Ground - Visit the Changlimithang archery ground to watch locals play traditional archery.

Centenary Farmers Market - Located in the heart of Thimphu, this vibrant market offers a glimpse into the daily lives of Bhutanese people and the country’s rich agricultural heritage. The market is famous for its wide variety of fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables, including Bhutanese staples like red rice, potatoes, chilies, and various organic vegetables.

Tashichho Dzong - Also known as Tashichhoedzong, this prominent fortress and monastery in Thimphu serves as the seat of the Bhutanese government and houses the King of Bhutan’s throne room.

Thimphu - Gangtey

Buddha Dordenma - After breakfast, visit the Dordenma Buddha statue. This massive, golden Buddha sits atop a hill in Thimphu and measures about 51.5 meters. It is made of bronze and gilded in gold.

Dochula Pass - A 40-minute drive from Thimphu, Dochula is worth the visit for those interested in sightseeing. Here, you can see 108 Druk Wangyal chortens.

Gangtey - Punakha

Gangtey Monastery - Visit the 17th-century Gangtey Gompa, perched atop a small hill overlooking the Phobjikha Valley. This spectacular monastery is surrounded by a village inhabited mainly by the families of the 140 gomchens who care for it. It is one of the most famous and sacred sites in the valley.

Chimi Lhakhang Temple - Known as the Temple of Fertility, this site was blessed by Lam Drukpa Kuenley, the Divine Madman. Many childless couples visit for blessings.

Punakha Dzong - Visit Punakha Dzong, a majestic fortress located between the Pho Chu (Male River) and Mo Chu (Female River). Punakha was the ancient capital of Bhutan.

Punakha Suspension Bridge - Visit the longest suspension bridge across the dzong.

Punakha - Paro

Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten - After breakfast, take a 45-minute hike to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel chorten, enjoying picturesque views of the rice terraces along the river. Then drive to Paro.

Rinpung Dzong - Also known as Paro Dzong, this fortress houses both the monastic body and district government offices, including local courts. Built in 1644 under the order of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal, it has protected Paro from Tibetan invasions. Below the dzong is Nyamai Zam, a traditional wooden bridge reconstructed after the original was washed away in a 1969 flood.

National Museum - Located near Paro Dzong, the National Museum showcases Bhutan’s heritage through well-preserved artifacts from across the country.

Paro - Later, stroll around Paro town, a historical town in the Paro Valley along the banks of the Paro Chu River, rich in sites and ancient buildings.

Paro Taktsang

Paro Taktsang - This wooden structure stands bravely on a cliff. Legend says Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress’s back and established this monastery when he brought Buddhist teachings to Bhutan in the 8th century. Built in 1692 by Gyalse Tenzin Rabgaye, a reincarnation of Guru Rinpoche, the hike to Taktshang takes about 2-3 hours on a clear, sunny day.

Namgay Artisanal Brewery - Located in Dumsibu, Paro, this brewery offers six types of beer and apple cider. They brew various styles to cater to different tastes, ensuring all beer lovers are satisfied.
