Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge - On the way, stop to visit the Tachogang Lhakang monastery. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and admire the iron bridge, reconstructed using original chain links from the 13th-century bridge.
Thimphu Chorten (Memorial Chorten) - Upon arrival in Thimphu, check into your hotel for a brief rest. If time allows, visit the Memorial Chorten Stupa, a sacred shrine built in memory of Bhutan’s third king.
Thimphu - Enjoy a welcome dinner at a charming local restaurant, where you can savor authentic Bhutanese cuisine. Overnight stay at the resort.

Thimphu’s Weekend Market - Conclude the day by exploring the Crafts Bazaar and the streets of Thimphu, showcasing various handicrafts and textiles made in Bhutan. During the weekend, visit the Centenial and Kaja Thorm markets to experience Bhutanese life and browse stalls selling local produce.
Thimphu to Punakha Sightseeing with Trans Bhutan Trail Hike
Punakha - Travel to Punakha via the Dochula Pass (3140m). At the pass, admire the Druk Wangyal Chortens, a collection of 108 stupas built to honor the Fourth King. Enjoy stunning views of the Himalayan ranges.
Descend to the rice valley of Lobesa and visit Chhimi Lhakhang, the fertility monastery, dedicated to Bhutan’s beloved historic figure, ‘The Divine Madman.’ The visit includes a pleasant hike through a picturesque village surrounded by paddy fields.
Punakha Sightseeing with scenic hikes.
Punakha - Head to Punakha valley to visit Khamsum Yuelley Namgyal stupa, involving a scenic 45-minute hike through paddy fields to the hilltop temple. This temple is a unique example of Bhutan’s architectural and artistic traditions. Optionally, take another hike across a suspension bridge over the Mo Chu river.
Continue to Punakha Dzong, Bhutan’s most beautiful fortress, located at the confluence of two rivers. This ancient fortress serves as the winter residence for the monastic order’s leadership and the administrative headquarters for the Punakha region.
Visit Sangchhen Dorji Lhuendrup Lhakhang Nunnery, situated on a ridge amid pine trees, overlooking the valleys of Punakha and Wangduephodrang.
Punakha to Phobjikha
Phobjikha Valley - Drive to Phobjikha. The route follows the scenic Dang Chuu River, climbing through bamboo and oak forests. Before crossing Pele La Pass, a side road leads to the hidden Phobjikha valley.
Visit the renowned Gantey Gompa monastery. The valley, home to endangered Black-necked cranes in winter, has embraced development and electrification. The extensive land area is ideal for potato farming. Visit the Black-necked Crane Information Centre and the Kewang (Lhakhang) temple.
Embark on a nature trail hike through the beautiful valley, perfect for photography. The hike concludes at the glacial valley, where your driver will pick you up. Overnight and dinner at the hotel.
Drive to Tangsibje village (Meet-the-locals).
Tangsibje valley and Bumthang.
Bumthang - After breakfast, drive to Bumthang Chumey valley via Trongsa town. Visit the Tower of Trongsa museum, a former watchtower now a museum showcasing the monarchy and royal dynasty of Bhutan. The museum displays artifacts, relics, and historical items, including the Raven Crown and royal robes of Bhutan’s founding fathers.
Continue to Trongsa Dzong fortress, the longest Dzong in the country, overlooking the Mangdechhu river, exemplifying Bhutan’s architectural heritage.
Day Excursion around Chumey Valley – Tharpaling Goenpa.
Bumthang - In the morning, drive 12 km to Tharpaling Goenpa, founded by Tibetan lama Longchenpa in the 1300s. After visiting the temple, return to the valley to explore Chumey villages, including the Prakhar temple and old royal palaces.
End the evening with a visit to a local handloom weaving house specializing in Yak Wool textiles, known as Yatha textiles. Observe weavers at work and engage with them.
Bumthang cultural heartlands
Bumthang - After breakfast, visit Kurjey monastery and start the Luegi Rowa hike. The trail follows a forested road for about 3.5 km along the river, passing charming farmhouses until Thangbi Goemba. Continue to Kharsat Bridge. After crossing the river, the path continues above the river for about 1-2 hours until reaching Ngang Lhakhang. Enjoy lunch at a farmhouse, featuring typical local Bumthang cuisine.
Note: Ngang Lhakhang is accessible by vehicle, allowing you to shorten your hike and drive back to town.
In the afternoon, visit Tamshing Lhakhang, founded in 1501 by Terton Pema Lingpa, and restored in the late 19th century. Optionally, visit the Cheese factory to learn about local Gouda cheese production. Relax at this cozy spot and enjoy Bumthang Cheese and locally made Red Panda beer.
Dinner in town and return to your resort.
Domestic flight to Paro and Sightseeing.
Paro District - After breakfast, head to the airport for a 30-minute domestic flight to Paro. Many guests enjoy this scenic flight over the Himalayan ranges. Upon arrival in Paro, visit the 7th-century Kyichu Lhakhang monastery, the sister temple of Jambay Lhakhang in Bumthang, considered the oldest Buddhist temples in Bhutan. Explore the Paro Rinpung Dzong fortress overlooking the Paro river.
Drive to town and visit Dungtse Lhakhang, unique for its chorten-like structure, one of the few in Bhutan.
Excursion to Tiger’s Nest.
Paro - The highlight of your Bhutan journey awaits. Today, embark on an excursion to the renowned Taktshang monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest. This two-hour hike rewards you with a breathtaking temple perched on a 1000-foot cliff. On the return, stop at Satsam Chorten for stunning views of Mount Jomolhari.
