The tour will guide participants through the roots of the artistic revolutions in 19th Century French Art. The French have always cherished rebels, and there will be several rule-breakers to discover along the way, such as Courbet, Manet, Monet, and Cézanne. The tour will contextualize the importance of the Impressionist revolution for its era, explaining why it was initially rejected by the French public and is now celebrated globally.

The journey begins with the Salons of the 1840s, dominated by the contrasting masters Delacroix and Ingres, and concludes with the unique styles of the passionate friends Van Gogh and Gauguin.

This is a private two-hour tour of the Musée d’Orsay, limited to six people, conducted in English. The meeting point is by the sculpture of the Rhino outside. Please note that museum tickets are not included in the price and can be purchased at the orsay.fr website for €16. All children under 18 can enter for free with ID. The operator is an Irish artist and specialist decorator, who has also been a Paris Museum Guide for the past 10 years.
