Vrysochori - A tribute to the courageous women of Pindos
In November 1940, Greek soldiers were entrenched in the mountains, battling in the Vrysochori area. Despite the distance from Zagori, the closest village, they encountered significant challenges in obtaining ammunition, food, and water. - Bridge of Plakidas - The Plakidas Bridge is located near the villages of Kipi and Koukouli in Central Zagori. For many years, it facilitated the transportation and rural activities of the villagers. Its unique architecture makes it one of the few three-stringer bridges, and it is among the most photographed bridges in Zagori. Initially, the bridge was wooden, but with the help of Serafeim, the abbot of Kipi’s Monastery, it was rebuilt with stone, earning the name “Kalogeriko,” meaning “of the abbot.” After 1865, it was repaired by Alexis Plakidas, from whom it derives its current name.
