- Museum of Tahiti and the Islands - Known as Te Fare Iamanaha, this museum is perfect for exploring the history of French Polynesia, from its early settlement to the development of its traditions and customs over time. Renovated in 2023, visitors can enjoy a delightful experience, complete with a spacious garden and stunning sea views. (On days when the museum is closed, typically Mondays and during high visitor influx due to cruise ship arrivals, the visit will be substituted with a tour of the archaeological site of Marae Arahurahu).
- Maraa Grotto - Nestled in lush greenery, the Mara’a site features three natural caves carved into the rock. These caves have pools of fresh, clear water formed by the constant flow of water. Various plants, such as ferns and mosses, hang from the ceilings of each cave.
- Taharuu Beach - Taharu’u Beach is a stunning black sand beach situated in the Papara commune on Tahiti’s west coast. It is an ideal spot for surfers, whether beginners or experienced, as it offers a well-protected area with excellent conditions for both swimming and surfing.
- The Water Gardens of Vaipahi - The Vaipahi Water Gardens provide an opportunity to observe a variety of botanical species and aquatic plants, while also exploring historical remnants and the legend of the area.
- Faarumai Waterfalls - The three waterfalls in the Faarumai Valley originate from three distinct watersheds. The most accessible, Vaimahuta, is just a short walk away and boasts an impressive 80-meter drop.
- Pointe Venus - Located in the northern part of Tahiti in Mahina, Venus Point is renowned for its beautiful black sandy beach and its historic lighthouse.

A half-day round-island excursion on Tahiti, perfect for cruisers as a pre- or post-cruise experience. - For travelers in Tahiti (Papeete) for a short time this introductory tour of the island is for you! After a hotel pickup in an air-conditioned van, you set off on a complete circle-island tour, with stops at various viewpoints, a grotto, a tropical garden and either a museum of Tahitian culture downtown, or a substitute site on Mondays when the museum is closed. You’ll learn something of the geography and history of the area along the way. Mary Jane was a great guide on this tour, very friendly and really interested in showing off her home. Highly recommended.

All the highlights of Tahiti Nui in airconditioned comfort with a great guide - We had a wonderful small group tour (6 persons) of Tahiti in a brand new, airconditioned Hyundai mini-bus which covered all the highlights. Our lovely tour guide Elis was extremely knowledgeable and provided us with interesting historical and current information on the sites we visited. We strongly recommend this tour.

Amazing Day with An Organized Tour and Excellent Guide - This was just an amazing day! Using a very organized Tour Company, Taina Tahiti Tours, we were able to have our shore excursion planned well ahead and work out just like we planned. The entire group that had signed up was easily organized into three smaller groups of 7 each. We were then sent on our way at exactly the time scheduled.
When I was looking for options for Papeete, I found very few tours that offered seeing sites and towns around the island that were not bouncing around in a four wheel drive vehicle, or out on the water in a boat. We just wanted to explore the island, see some beaches, waterfalls, towns and the city of Papeete.
This was the perfect tour with a great guide, Loni, who told us so much about Tahiti, the people, the history and everywhere we saw. It was exactly what we wanted. We moved quickly which allowed us time to wander the city and market of Papeete, as well. As we sent pictures of everything we saw during our tour our adult kids responded with the following words, "Perfection", "Dreamy", "Obsessed with it". I would add that anyone with even one day here should take this shore excursion so they don't miss even one bit of the road that circles Tahiti Nui! That is what this tour does!

Tahiti Tour of Island - Great. Our driver Niiki was excellent. Tour in small 7 person mini van. Tour started and ended on time. We did a full circle of the island. Water and snacks didn’t reach our van due to issues with the tour company.

Nothing special about tour - Basic.tour. Returned an hour early. Only spent 10 minutes at beach stop. Could have made additional stops at other scenic spots along the way and still returned early.

Buyer beware: Operator cancels tours at last minute - We had stayed an extra day just for the Tahiti tour. But just in the morning of the tour, I get an email saying that the tour was cancelled because they were insufficient people.
Just 2 days earlier I had reached out to them and they had confirmed the pickup time and the tour.

Not a happy traveller, unreliable company. - We never got to go on trip. We had a message before leaving home with our tickets and a message to say they would contact us what time to meet by TEXT or WHATSAPP. We never received the message. There was two times 9.00am or 12 midday We weren’t able to be off the ship in time for the morning trip but did go for the afternoon. We finally found someone who told us we were on the morning tour and they were extremely rude. They had sent the message to my email which I don’t have on my phone!!!!!!

Run away! - Service provider who cancels 20 minutes before the release because he does not have enough customers, whereas he confirms the day before that it is maintained.
