As the sun rose over Panama City, I found myself eagerly anticipating the adventure that lay ahead. Our journey began with a comfortable ride in an air-conditioned bus, where our guide, Manolo Ruiz, shared fascinating insights into Panamanian history. As we traveled, the driver suddenly pulled over, having spotted a sloth nestled in the branches of a tree. Through the guide’s scope, we watched in awe as the sloth leisurely munched on leaves, a reminder of the delicate balance of nature that I have dedicated my life to preserving.
A High-Speed Adventure on Gatun Lake
Arriving at the boat dock, we boarded “The PAPI,” a high-speed motorboat that would take us on a thrilling ride across Gatun Lake. The wind whipped through my hair as we sped past colossal vessels navigating the canal, a testament to human engineering amidst the wild beauty of the jungle.
Our destination was Monkey Island, where the guide handed us fruit to entice the local primates.
