Fantastic visit to old Panama City and Canal zone - We're from Toronto and were visiting with our sisters and husbands from the UK. Jorge met us on time and drove us to old Panama City where we toured the Spanish Colonial buildings, which are very attractive, and wandered through the narrow streets. Jorge took us to a lovely coffee shop and explained all the local coffee varieties. We spent about 1.5 hours in the old town. Afterwards he took us to the Smithsonian Education center where there are aquariums with local sea life and students (who speak excellent english) to explain their backgrounds. There were also at least 10 wild sloths who live in the trees and which can be seen at quite close quarters - a special surprise! We then went for lunch in a typical Panama restaurant with local foods, although Jorge would take you anywhere you requested for lunch - lunch is at your own expense. Afterwards we went to the Miraflores locks and watched a tanker ship transit through - about 1 hour complete with explanations on the lock workings. There was also a 45 minute 3D IMAX film on the history of the canal which was great. Throughout the whole tour Jorge engaged us with interesting facts and was extremely friendly and helpful. We had booked this tour before leaving Canada and Kevin always responded rapidly to email enquiries. We highly recommend Barefoot Panama and will use them again!!

Excellent way to experience Panama City - Great day seeing the city and learning about it's history in a small group setting. Jesus was very informative and got us to all the highlights - and in spotting sloths :). So efficient getting us into the Panama Canal with pre-paid tickets and knew what time of day was best to go as the ships go through at different times. The price was fair, especially given it included entrance fees/pick up and drop off at our hotel. The communication with the company when arranging the tour was really great as well. Highly recommend!

Great tour! - Gonzo was a great tour guide! There were two couples and a family of 4 on our trip. Gonzo was great with all ages, pointing out things that would interest the children as well as being conscious of the limited mobility of one of the adults. Although there were no ships going through the locks at Miraflores when we were there, the IMAX movie was amazing. We loved seeing the city center, the aquarium and the old city. Great tour!

Sightseeing Monkey Island &Dancing with the Village People!! - Our guide(Gonzo) was fantastic and so knowledgeable so we were off to a great start from pickup time. Our boat driver had 'eagle eyes' at spotting wildlife & calling monkeys! We thoroughly enjoyed our walk in the jungle and wish we had more time exploring, sightseeing & taking in the beauty of the jungle. The village we saw was incredible and we really were captivated seeing the close proximity to the modern big city yet living in such primitive dwellings. Wish we could have had time to chat with the villagers and experience more of their day to day lives but we knew time was limited. Loved the dances they all performed for us & we got to partake it! I give this experience a superior rating as this was a once-in-a-lifetime Panamanian tour! Bravo all around & highly recommend this tour!

When you only have a day in Panama City, go with Barefoot Panama - Our whole experience with Barefoot Panama was fantastic. We did this tour but privately as we only had one day in Panama City. Kevin made all the arrangements including our tour guide picking us up from the airport and taking us to our hotel afterwards. Our tour guide, Levy, was also amazing. He was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to; the places we visited were just what we wanted to see, including the Panama Canal and seeing a sloth at the Smithsonian Institute. Highly recommended.

Amazing tour of Panama City - Family of four from America! - This was a great experience and trip through Panama City's main attractions. Our tour started early in the morning so that we could get to the gates of the Panama Canal before they opened up for all the tourists. we spent the day exploring the old town, Amador Causeway, Cerro Ancon, and the visitor center at Miraflores Locks. The highlight of the day was lunch at a local spot where the food was downright amazing and 100% packed by locals. Outstanding guide service by Horhay who knew the city and history inside and out. We never felt rushed as we walked through the nature center to see sloths (seven of them), the canal, and all the shops in the old town. This was the perfect way to kick off our vacation in Panama City and gave us a bunch of ideas and places to revisit throughout the week. It was great not to have to stand in line for anything. All tickets, taxes, and fees were included in the tour price, and WELL WORTH IT! We had an absolute blast and highly recommend this tour!

A Fantastic Day In Old Panama - We arrived in Panama City by ship. We were met at the port by Maty. Once we started using What’s App we found each other quickly and were soon on the way to the old Panama Canal locks. Maty timed our visit so we would see a large cargo ship in the locks. We not only saw that one but two others as they maneuvered through the locks. Maty was extremely knowledgeable about the history and operation of the canal and locks. He answered all of our questions. We had time for a coffee in the visitor center before seeing the IMAX movie narrated by Morgan Freeman. While we were slightly reluctant we thoroughly enjoyed the movie and the information we learned from it. Maty then took us to Old Town Panama where we wandered throughout the city visiting shops, churches and other historic sites. The biggest highlight was the arch which had survived numerous major earthquakes and convinced the canal builders that they could succeed despite all the obstacles. We ended our day having a scrumptious lunch which included typical Panamanian delights. Maty then returned us to the ship. We would highly recommend this excursion from Barefoot Panama. It’s a great way to learn about the city, its history, and the canal. Maty was the perfect guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and attuned to our needs in organizing the day. By the way prior to arrival I had several conversations with Kevin O’Brien the company’s owner. I found him to be helpful and responsive to all of my questions and requests. You can not go wrong booking a tour with this company.
