Hierapolis, meaning “Holy City,” was an ancient Greco-Roman city in Phrygia, situated on hot springs in Southwest Anatolia. Its ruins are located near modern-day Pamukkale.

Hierapolis is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The hot springs have served as a spa since the 2nd century B.C.E., attracting visitors seeking relief for their ailments, with many choosing to retire or spend their final days there.
