Today at 7:45 am, be prepared at the designated pick-up location to meet the driver for a journey through the heart of Sicily to Agrigento. Here, enjoy a two-hour, self-guided audio tour of the Valley of the Temples, a significant UNESCO World Heritage site. This tour includes the Temple of Hera, the Temple of Concordia, the Temple of Hercules, and the Temple of Zeus. According to legend, Agrigento was founded by Daedalus and his son Icarus after escaping Crete “by air.” Historically, however, its origins trace back to 582 B.C., when Rhodian-Cretan colonists from nearby Gela established the city of Akragas, named after the adjacent river. The city quickly grew in size, importance, and military power under its first tyrant, Phalarides, and later under Theron, who expanded his influence over northern Sicily to Himera.

The tour will then proceed to Siracusa, with an estimated arrival time of around 5:30 pm, subject to traffic conditions.
