“Great trip with many animal sightings through beautiful landscapes - We had a great trip! Left early in the morning in the dark with hotel pickup and were returned at dusk. Breakfast & Lunch in the park were included. Our friendly and experienced driver was exceptional in spotting rare animals hidden in our surroundings. We’ve seen leopards, elephants, crocodiles, buffalos, peacocks, mongoose, monkeys, a ton of birds, and more.” - Reviewed on 2025-03-16
Afternoon Adventures: Navigating the Storms
As the day progresses, the weather in Palatupana takes a dramatic turn. The clear morning skies give way to potential strong storms in the afternoon, with temperatures soaring to 98.5°F. This is when the Private Wildlife Tour becomes an exhilarating experience. Scheduled from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM, this safari offers a unique perspective on Yala’s wildlife amidst the April showers.
The high humidity and strong winds add an element of adventure to the safari. As you journey through the park in a rugged 4WD vehicle, the possibility of encountering lone elephants or witnessing a crocodile basking in the rain-soaked landscape is thrilling. The guides ensure your safety, advising you to remain in the jeep during close encounters with wildlife.
“An Exciting, Picture-worthy Safari! - We had a private 6 hour tour of Yala National Park from Travceylon Leisure in Hambantota. When we arrived at the entrance a guide from the park joined our vehicle. He was excellent at sighting even the smallest of animals! We saw several elephants. The first one we saw was a male elephant which made our guide very nervous that he was so close to our jeep. The Asian male elephants can be very aggressive. We learned that a 1/2 hour later that same elephant attacked a jeep, causing serious damage to the vehicle. So you are definitely seeing wild animals in their natural habitat.” - Reviewed on 2025-02-20
