Excellent day out - Staff are lovely and helpful. Food lovely. Sea is unbelievably warm. Snorkeling was brilliant. Very enjoyable day. It rained most of the day but it didn't matter as you are wet from the sea anyway.

Long tail boat trip - We loved this trip. The boat guys and guide were really friendly and helpful. My personal highlights were sunset on Poda island and swimming with bioluminescent plankton.

A great experience with zero planning required! - This was a really fun adventure - a small spot of rain did not dampen the experience! The team were generous with the amount of food offered and the islands were stunning to see, departed and arrived as scheduled. Really enjoyed the day.

Big group which detracted from enjoyment - We booked tour on speedboat which said it would have a maximum of 30 travellers. I counted 49 travellers(including 4 children and a baby) plus crew. Too big a group for our preference and was too crowded on boat. Staff were good and buffet was tasty and sufficient. Not the best snorkelling location as was pretty cloudy compared to other parts around Thailand that we snorkelled in.

Five minutes of bioluminescence. They make this tour sound a lot better than it actually is. - "Seven Islands" is really 3 islands (one stop for snorkeling near an island, not ON an island; one stop for dinner on an island and a third stop on a small island to walk around for 40 minutes). The other four islands are 'drive bys' in the longtail boat. Guide gives a little anecdote about the island in very broken English that is impossible to understand. This tour is mass tourism at its most crass. Registration for the tour is nothing short of chaotic, with 100 people milling about a desk where three staff are trying to match reservation numbers to names on their clipboards. We were picked up from our hotel at 1pm and didn't head out in the longtail boat until 2:30pm. The longtail boats are crammed with up to 35 people per boat. There's one snorkel spot for 40 minutes, a lunch stop (very mediocre lunch - chicken skewers, rice, corn, chicken curry and steamed cabbage), a stop on an island to watch the sunset (which we didn't see because it was cloudy and really windy) and then 5-10 minutes in the water to see the bioluminescence before heading back to Ao Nang. It felt like a really long afternoon. Honestly, if you can afford it, book a private tour and think twice about doing it through MAM tours. They cater to the masses and there is nothing personalized or special about this experience -- unless you like being squished between other families.
