A Must Visit Experience, even on a wet windy day. - This is so much more than a visit to an outdoor space where the treaty was signed. It offers an insight into the history and culture of New Zealand by way of a guided tour and cultural performance which gave us an understanding of what led to the treaty and how it was perceived at the time. Our tour guide was amazing, the enthusiasm and knowledge she shared with us for the history of the Treaty made it so interesting. It was a really wet, windy day so we did not spend too long outside but there were plenty of indoor areas and a museum to explore. This visit went beyond my expectations and in my opinion is a must do activity.

Engaging with history - The guide around the grounds was very engaging , passionate and informative. She really brought alive the whole experience and built on what we’d seen in the exhibition. This was followed by a moving Moari session which added to the whole experience. Breakfast at the cafe there was really good too!

Brilliant a must do - We had originally booked via trip advisor but this was cancelled on the day due to the terrible weather. Our guide was Noah, and we think he was excellent, lots of informal with the occasional bad joke to keep us interested. This is an excellent venue and I think fairly priced. In my view it also gives a balanced account with no effort to make out that the Moria were faultless as an other reviewer suggested, well presented and well organised.

Excellent day - We had tickets for a guided tour and cultural experience. Roze was an excellent guide - although it was a largish group, there was no problem because we had earpieces to ensure we could hear. The commentary enhanced the surroundings and she gave us tips on areas to focus on when we toured the site independently. The cultural performance was fantastic - uplifting and exciting. Explanations enhanced this too. The art exhibition was curated beautifully with effective lighting. There was art within the building itself (pictured). Across the whole site, a mix of media was used to hold interest. There was a lot to see and with a really lovely cafe and immaculate restrooms, you could use the best part of a day here. Highly recommended.

Everyone who comes to NZ should visit - We visited on a day pass which included guided tour and cultural performance. The whole experience is so beautiful and well run with excellent facilities. The grounds are stunning and it’s just an incredible place to ‘be’ even before the exhibitions and guided tours. There is so much information across the various museums and exhibits within the grounds, we were there for several hours and could easily have continued exploring - there is A LOT to read and see. The information was so well laid out and accessible. Our guide Rose (I thought at first that she was going to be very strict :-)) was incredible - she taught us so much and I could have listened to her talk all day she was such an engaging passionate guide. The highlight was the cultural performance which I felt quite overwhelmed to get to see. The whole experience has deepened our understanding of this incredible country and the enjoyment of our continued travels around it. A must do.

A good and educational experience. - We went here as we wanted to learn about the Māori’s and the Treaty and its significance. Our first thought is this seemed expensive although to be fair it was an excellent experience. We went in time to see the museum first which had lots of information, some of which was not easy to read both because of the lighting and that it was in white font on a black background. The best part of the museum was the film explaining and showing the signing of the treaty. We then did the guided tour of the grounds. This was a good experience with an informative and knowledgable guide helped as we all had a headset so we could hear the guide at all times and could wander at look at things without losing the guides speaking. She told us about the history of New Zealand, the Dutch, English and French coming, how they faired and that the English stayed and eventually a treaty was signed by dozens of Māori chiefs and the English representative. We were shown to huge Waki, war canoe, which is used each year to celebrate the treaty signing and that it is now a UK HM ship! We were then delivered to the Marat, a traditional Māori meeting house where we experienced a cultural performance. Also on the grounds is the flag pole, cafe and shop.

Good way to spend half a day learning about Maori culture - I'm glad we came and experienced what the grounds had to offer. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the treaty grounds. The cultural show was small ,but well done. The cost might put some people off, but the grounds are kept in immaculate condition.

Lovely grounds and history but a disappointing show - The treaty grounds tour was very well put together and our tour guide was very informative. The grounds are very well kept. However the moari show was disappointing. Most of the time was spent explaining the moari carvings instead of experiencing the lovely songs and dances. Each part was very short, and didn't feel authentic, After every performance we were also told to clap! The moari show at the Auckland museum felt a lot more authentic and they preferred that no clapping took place. So some more of traditional songs and dancing would have been better and a more authentic experience to round off the treaty grounds experience.
