Originally named Poseidonia in honor of the god Poseidon, it was later renamed Paestum by the Roman Empire following the colonization in 273 BC. Paestum still remarkably preserves its grand temples, dedicated to the revered Greek deities, such as the best-preserved Temple of Neptune, followed by the older Temple of Hera, and the equally significant Temple of Ceres. The park also boasts a national museum, which houses ancient and invaluable Paleolithic artifacts.

Paestum is a highly significant archaeological site located within the Cilento National Park, providing the opportunity to discover the ancient city of Magna Graecia, founded in the distant 6th century BC. Formerly known as Poseidonia, in honor of the god Poseidon, Paestum remarkably preserves three Doric temples in excellent condition: the Temple of Hera, Athena, and Neptune. In 1998, this ancient site was recognized as a World Heritage Site. The location is in the Municipality of Capaccio in the Province of Salerno. In addition to visiting this astonishing archaeological site, participants will have the chance to learn about and visit an artisanal dairy farm with an expert from the company, who will demonstrate various farming methods. During the visit, the art and dedication behind each product will be admired, culminating in the tasting of the finished product, “MOZZARELLA.”
