The Padua Cathedral Baptistery is a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with seven other art masterpieces of Padua: the site is comprised of eight religious and secular structures within Padua city walls, sheltering a variety of fresco cycles painted between 1302 and 1397 by various artists, for varied patrons and within buildings of diverse purposes. Despite these differences, the frescoes exhibit a consistent style and theme. Included are the Scrovegni Chapel and the Eremitani Church, the Palazzo della Ragione, the Reggia Carrarese Chapel, the Basilica and Convent of St. Anthony, the St. George and St. Michael Oratory, and the Cathedral Baptistery. Overall, these cycles show the evolution of fresco painting over a hundred years, coalescing with a fresh burst of creativity and a new perspective on spatial representation.
