Rainbows in Cape Town - Widevision Travel and Kyle provided a stress free, fun filled day of fishing on the Elands River. The gear provided was top quality and Kyle’s knowledge of the river and the surrounding wild and plant life made for a rewarding day. And so close to the city. I highly recommend one of their guided trips for anyone who likes the challenge of fishing new waters.

Fly-fishing Cape Town - My day on the Elands River was amazing. Kyle, our guide, was experienced, patient and friendly. His knowledge of the stream and local floral and fauna made the day quite enjoyable. I had a rough start but Kyle kept me focused and I was able to hook up on several rainbows to make a perfect day. Next time I come to Cape Town, I’ll be connecting with Widevision Travel again. This a must for anyone who loves fishing new waters.

Great and unique day out small river fly fishing - Had a great time fly fishing last weekend, Gordon was a top class guide and knew the river like the back of his hand! We caught (and missed) lots of fish in the beautiful setting that are the Cape Streams. It was definitely an action packed day fishing wise with fish taking surface flies all day.
I booked a half day solo, but got paired with another angler and upgraded to full day which worked perfectly for me. I bought the wading boots, which you may need to pick up beforehand as I did. I think you only need them if you don't want to get your shoes wet, or don't have shoes with good grip. Bring spare socks etc as you will be up to your waist and might slip.
It was an early start and we spent the entire day down in the valley until dusk. There was a lot of hiking (10km in total over rough ground) as I had agreed to one of the further away fishing spots. There are closer swims if you're not up for hiking that far, but I think that's part of the fun.
I went when the weather conditions were quite cool, so the fish were happy to take a fly on the surface and we had lots of action. The fish you catch are small rainbow trout. There are some in there around the 30cm mark but they evaded us this time! It is all catch and release.
Can definitely recommend if you want a unique day fly fishing, catching small trout in the beautiful countryside. Although I had fly fished before, it is suitable for beginners.

Casting call - If you’re looking to check ‘fishing the African continent’ off of your bucket list, this is the trip for you. Only 50 min. from Capetown, through some beautiful countryside, you’ll find yourself at a boulder-filled stream. For the beginner to the master, the cool waters offer anyone the chance to explore some technical fishing.

Awesome time flats fishing for leer fish - I had a great time with Kyle on an 1/2 day saltwater estuary trip. Easy to book on viator. He contacted me and he set up the transportation to and from my hotel in Cape Town, brought snacks and water, and provided gear (included) and boots (additional charge). We waded a flat near Cape Town for hard fighting leer fish. He put me on fish and I landed my first (and second) African leerey on the fly. Also had some other vicious strikes that I flat out missed. I’m a fly fishing guide in the US so I have pretty high standards when I hire guides for myself. Kyle exceeded expectations and is an all around great guy that shares the same passion for the sport. I also found out that he does guided hikes up Table and Lionshead Mtn. If I ever get back to Cape Town again, I’ll be hiring him for another adventure chasing trout or leeries. FYI- if you want to chase trout, make sure you book early as he has to purchase a river pass for the day of the trip in advance. I booked on a Friday for a Monday trip which didn’t give him ample time to grab a beat.

Great guide! - What a great trip. I was traveling to South Africa from Colorado, USA and despite the difference in time zones Kyle made booking and preparing the trip a breeze. I've used fly guides across the US as well as New Zealand. Kyle's knowledge and expertise stands up to any of them. Beyond that, he also has ton of knowledge of local flora and fauna, the geography of the the area, and of Cape Town. Had a great half-day on the river. If I'm lucky enough to be back to Cape Town, Kyle will be the first call I make to book another trip.
