- Radcliffe Camera - Visit one of the city’s enduring symbols, the Radcliffe Camera. It is named after both the physician John Radcliffe and the Latin word ‘camera’, meaning ‘room’. This 250-year-old building serves as a reading room for the nearby Bodleian Library.
- All Souls College - Founded in the 15th century, this college only admitted men until 1979. T. E. Lawrence, famously known as Lawrence of Arabia, studied here. Sir Christopher Wren was a fellow and designed the iconic sundial atop the library entrance. Today, the college primarily focuses on research.
- Bodleian Library - The Bodleian Library is one of Europe’s oldest libraries, over 400 years old. Founded by Sir Thomas Bodley, its world-renowned collection includes a copy of the Magna Carta, a Gutenberg Bible, and a first edition of Don Quixote.
As you gaze at the Bodleian, you might hear scholars refer to it as ‘the Bodley’ or simply ‘the Bod’.
- Clarendon Building - This neoclassical building housed the Oxford University Press until the early 19th century. Now part of the Bodleian Library, the Clarendon Building is used for administrative purposes.
