Blackwell’s is a Ravenclaw’s dream, boasting approximately 250,000 volumes, equating to 3 miles of books! It’s even more remarkable considering their first store was only 12 feet square and housed just 700 used books. Be sure to check out the building’s roof from afar. Don’t worry, the stone figure you see isn’t someone petrified. It’s a statue by Antony Gormley, part of a series called “Another Time II”.
- Bodleian Library - One of the largest libraries, with numerous buildings throughout Oxford. It houses ancient medieval books on spells and wizards! It can be viewed from various external locations - see Divinity for our entrance to Bodleian.
- New College - Despite its name, it is one of the oldest colleges at Oxford, established in 1379. With its medieval cloisters and stunning spaces, it’s easy to see why multiple Harry Potter scenes were filmed here!
- The Divinity School - Paid Entrance To Part of The Bodleian: This dramatic site is not only one of the oldest parts of the Bodleian Library University, but it was also featured in various scenes during the filming of Harry Potter in Oxford. The Bodleian is a complex of different buildings, and this is the section we enter. Instantly recognizable as a Harry Potter site, it is one of the finest examples of medieval architecture in England.
