Dyer Island Cruises - Dyer Island Cruises offers tours around the renowned Dyer Island, where visitors have the chance to witness the Marine Big 5: Southern Right, Humpback, and Bryde’s Whales, Great White Sharks in the famous Shark Alley, Cape Fur Seals, the endangered African Penguin, and various dolphin species. The area is also home to a diverse range of seabirds. The Southern Right Whale Season typically runs from June to December, but Humpback and Bryde’s whales can occasionally be spotted throughout the year. An on-board marine biologist and experienced crew ensure an educational and transformative experience.
Upon arrival at the Great White House, guests are welcomed with coffee, tea, and muffins while attending a safety and conservation briefing. Safety jackets and wet weather gear are provided. After a brief walk to the harbor, guests board the custom-designed vessel, Dream Catcher, to begin their adventure. Following the sea excursion, guests return to the Great White House for soup and bread, followed by a debriefing. High-quality trip footage is available for purchase, with a downloadable link provided.

African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary - The African Penguin & Seabird Sanctuary (APSS) is a state-of-the-art, custom-designed marine bird rehabilitation center located in the Overstrand area. It provides temporary rehabilitative care to sick, displaced, injured, oiled, and abandoned marine birds, with a special focus on the endangered African Penguin. The sanctuary’s efforts in marine bird rescue, rehabilitation, and release are integral to the conservation management plan aimed at preserving African Penguin populations and other seabirds. Through ongoing research, education, and awareness programs, the sanctuary strives to reduce human impacts on these colonies.

The region also serves as a habitat to a broad spectrum of seabirds.
