Gargantas del Todra - After breakfast, meet your driver to begin your journey eastward towards Skoura. In Skoura, the dramatic Kasbah of Amridil is just a 15-minute drive from the hotel. Start your day trip by visiting Amridil Kasbah, built by Thami Glaoui, who also constructed Telouat. This area is known as the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs. After an hour’s drive, you will reach the Rose Valley in Kalaat M’gouna, famous for its rose products and annual festival in May. On your way, pass through the Dades Valley in Dades town. An hour’s drive from Dades brings you to the stunning Todgha Gorge, with cliffs ranging from 300 to 500 meters, attracting rock climbers worldwide. Enjoy panoramic views of Berber mud villages overlooking the valley, and take a walk alongside the Todgha Gorge. As the journey continues, pass through towns like Tinjdad, Fezana, and Mellaab, known for global mining, before arriving in Erfoud, a city famous for its mineral fossils and annual dates festival in October. The vast dunes of Erg Chebbi and the welcoming Berber towns are nearby, offering a warm greeting with Moroccan mint tea. Camels await to take you on a ride through the golden dunes, where you can pause to watch the sunset. Continue to your camp, where a starry sky awaits. Upon arrival, the camp staff will provide your tent and arrange a traditional dinner, followed by a lively Berber music party.
Day 3: Erg Chebbi, Ziz Valley, Midelt, Azrou Cedar Forest, Ifrane, Fes
Fes el-Bali - Early in the morning, the camel guide will wake you to witness the magical pre-dawn light as the sun rises over the dunes. After a clean and serene sunrise, ride the camels back to the hotel for breakfast and a shower. Then, embark on a new journey north with your driver, paralleling the historic caravan routes. Travel alongside the Ziz Valley, with its breathtaking views and the Tafilalt Oasis, the largest palm grove oasis. Continue to Midelt, known as the city of apples, where you will have lunch before heading north through the remaining cedar forests of North Africa, home to playful Barbary apes. The final stop is Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco, known for its cleanliness and unique alpine architecture. An hour’s drive will bring you to the medieval city of Fes, the spiritual capital, where you will check into a traditional ornate Riad in the ancient Medina.
Fes Sightseeing
Fes el-Bali - With over 9,000 streets, Fes Medina is best explored with an official local guide. After breakfast in the Riad, the guide will join you to show you his birthplace. The tour is divided into two parts: the first is a walking tour, including the oldest university, Qaraouin, Medersa Bouanania, the Blue Gate, and the narrow paths and souks filled with food, crafts, and artisans. Visit the library and mosque founded in 859 by a woman named Fatima, and the famous Tanneries known for high-quality leather. The second part is a driving tour, offering views of the grand Royal Palace with its seven gates, the Jewish quarter, and the Ceramic House, a pottery cooperative showcasing intricate tajines and pots. Enjoy a panoramic view of the entire Medina of Fes from both the north and south towers before returning to the same ornate Riad.
Fes and Airport Transfer
Meknes Medina - After breakfast, meet your driver. Depending on your flight time, you may have time for last-minute shopping or a visit to the imperial city of Meknes, founded by the Almoravid Dynasty in the 11th century as a military settlement. It became the capital under Moulay Ismail in the 17th century, who built the new Meknes in a Hispano-Moorish style. The city features religious architecture, including the great Bab Mansour, Africa’s largest gate, with beautiful mosaics and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. The Granaries, Sahrij Swani, the royal palace, and the great underground prison are must-see sites in Meknes. Finally, meet your driver again for the transfer to Fes airport.
