Bucharest - Cotroceni Palace - The Spring Palace - Brasov.
Cotroceni Palace (Palatul Cotroceni) - This palace, built in the French neo-baroque style, evokes the grandeur of the Grand Opera in Paris. The Union Room is particularly impressive, hosting significant receptions. Constructed between 1888 and 1893 for Romania’s first king, Carol I, Cotroceni Palace has been the official residence of the Romanian President since 1991. Built on the site of a former monastery, its foundations and cellars are part of the palace tour. Designed by a French architectural team led by Paul Gottereau, it influenced Romanian domestic architecture for years. It was the Bucharest residence of the Romanian royal family until 1939.
The House of Ceaușescu - The former residence of Romanian dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu is now open for guided tours. Built in the 1960s and known as P50 during the communist era, the 80-room Spring Palace served as the Ceausescus’ home for nearly two decades. Despite its modest exterior, the interior is spacious, featuring an indoor pool, a spa, a hair salon, and even a bunker. The rooms are adorned with Murano crystal chandeliers and Indian silk carpets. Additional features include a press house, a movie theatre, a greenhouse, and a bunker. The bunker, located about 10 feet underground, has a disguised entry and a special ventilation system, reflecting Ceaușescu’s paranoia about poisoning.
Brasov - Old Town - Bran Castle - Sighisoara.
Brasov Historical Center - Spend two hours exploring the old city of Brasov, also known as Kronstadt, by visiting key sites such as the Black Church, the largest Gothic monument between Vienna and Istanbul, Rope Street, the narrowest street in Eastern Europe, and the old Council Hall. Learn about Braşov’s history from the Middle Ages to the present. Explore the medieval fortress of Brasov, once one of Europe’s most secure fortresses, and see the preserved old wall, the Black and White Towers, and the Weaver’s Bastion. Discover Ecatherine’s Gate, near the Schei Gate, with its four small towers symbolizing the medieval right of life and death over vassals.
Bran Castle (Dracula’s Castle) - A highlight of your cultural journey is the visit to the medieval Bran Castle, famously known as Dracula’s Castle. It is linked to the real Vlad the Impaler, who inspired Bram Stoker’s Count Dracula. Continue to Bran, renowned for the fortress associated with the Dracula legend. Hear stories about Vlad the Impaler and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains from the citadel remains. Take some free time to shop for souvenirs in the market and enjoy a traditional lunch in Bran village before heading to Sighisoara.
Sighisoara - Peles Castle - Bucharest City or Bucharest International Airport.
Peles Castle - Travel into the Transylvanian Alps to Sinaia and Brasov. Sinaia, named after Mount Sinai, is famous for its beautiful late 17th-century Byzantine monastery. Visit the neo-classical Peleș Castle, built on a medieval route connecting Transylvania to Wallachia. Constructed in the 19th century under the direction of Romania’s first King, Carol I, Peles Castle is one of Romania’s most iconic landmarks. It served as the royal family’s summer residence until 1948 when it was seized by the communist regime. Today, it remains one of Europe’s most beautiful castles, offering a glimpse into royal history and splendid architecture.
