Bucharest OTP Airport - Bucharest City.
Bucharest - Welcome to Romania, the land of Dracula, and delicious food! Your personal guide, Vlad, will be waiting for you at the airport with a sign that says “I’m not a vampire, I promise” to greet you and take you to your hotel in Bucharest. During the transfer, Vlad will give you an overview of the trip plan and provide some insight into Romania and its capital, including suggestions for dinner in Bucharest like “garlic not included”
Spend the night in the bustling city of Bucharest at a comfortable 3-star hotel, where you’ll have your own en suite room and wake up to a delicious breakfast included. The evening is yours to explore the city at your leisure, and watch out for Vlad, he’s a bit of a night owl.
Bucharest - Eplore the city!
Bucharest - Are you ready for an adventure? Buckle up, because we’re about to embark on the most thrilling sightseeing tour of Bucharest! The first stop is the Botanical Garden, where you’ll feel like you’re in a real-life game of “Plants vs. Zombies” (watch out for the killer tomatoes).
Next, we’ll swing by the Politehnica University of Bucharest. See Casa Niculescu-Dorobantu, a fancy castle-like home that looks like it’s straight out of a Disney movie. And don’t worry, we won’t forget about Casa Monteoru, the location of the prom scene, where you can relive all your high school glory days (or nightmares).
As we admire the landmarks of Bucharest including the Arch of Triumph, the Revolution Square, and the Palace of Parliament (the second largest administrative building in the world after the Pentagon). In the afternoon, we’ll take a walking tour of the old city center in the Lipscani district where it used to be the old princely court of Vlad the Impaler, also known as Dracula.
Bucharest- Balteni- Sinaia- Busteni- Sighisoara
Sinaia - Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, because you’re going to need all the energy you can get for this Transylvanian adventure!
As you hit the road, you’ll pass through the towns of Sinaia and Busteni, with a quick pit stop in the charming village of Balteni to check out the Olga Greceanu Mansion. Don’t worry, it’s not haunted…or is it?
Next, you’ll arrive in Sinaia, the “pearl of the Carpathians” and a popular mountain resort. Take a selfie in front of the Royal train station, which was used as the setting for Burlington train station in the movie.
Busteni - Then, it’s off to Busteni to see the Cantacuzino Palace, a stunning neo-gothic architectural structure that served as the exterior location for the Nevermore Academy in the story. But watch out for ghosts, it’s said that the design of the castle’s roof was altered digitally to fit the story!
Sighisoara - In the afternoon, you’ll transfer to Sighisoara, the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler. Don’t worry, he won’t be there to impale you, but you can visit his birthplace, which is now a medieval themed restaurant called Casa Vlad Dracul. And if you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a real-life vampire (or just a tourist in a cape).
So pack your bags, put on your comfy shoes, and get ready for a journey filled with spooky castles, mountain resorts and lots of laughs.
Get ready for a spooky good time in Sighisoara as you check into the haunted-but-luxurious Casa Wagner Hotel. Your en suite room is just what the ghost doctor ordered and comes with a complimentary breakfast fit for a vampire. Spend your evening doing whatever floats your bat, whether it’s exploring the town or just hanging with the hotel ghost. And don’t worry about dinner, it’s on you (but watch out for the room service ghost, he’s a bit of a prankster).
Sighisoara- Bran- Brasov
Sighisoara - Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, because you’re in for a wild ride through time!
First stop, the medieval citadel of Sighisoara, founded by German Saxon settlers in the 12th century and located high up on a hill at 425 m above sea level. See the Clock Tower Museum, the Medieval Weapons Museum, and the Torture Room (entrance fee not included, but trust us, it’s worth it). Climb the stairs to see the Church on the Hill and enjoy the narrow streets of the city, but watch out for the time-traveling tourists!
Bran - Next, it’s off to Bran to check out the famous Bran Castle (entrance fee not included). Surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend, the castle is perched high atop a rock and owes its fame to its imposing towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stoker’s Dracula. The fortress built in the 14th century, known as Dracula’s Castle, due to American movie directors, Bran served as a royal residence of Queen Mary from 1920 to 1948 and it is now one of the most visited museums in Romania. But don’t worry, the only thing that’s gonna suck here is your wallet.
Brasov - In the afternoon, you’ll head to Brasov, another famous fortified town founded by the Saxons in the medieval era. Take a stroll around the old Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului) where you can admire the colorfully painted and ornately trimmed baroque structures. See the Black Church (entrance fee not included), the largest gothic church in Romania. The interior is impressive and well-kept and houses one of the largest organs in Eastern Europe. Finally, you’ll check into your hotel, the perfect end to a day filled with history, legends and good laughs.
Get ready for a good night’s sleep in the cozy city of Brasov at a 3-star hotel that’s just a notch above a hostel. Your en suite room has all the amenities you need, like a bed and a roof, and wake up to a breakfast fit for a king (or at least a prince of 3-star hotels).
Brasov- Targoviste- Snagov- Bucharest
Centrul Vechi Targoviste - Start your day with a hearty breakfast at the hotel, because you’re in for a wild ride through history!
First stop, Targoviste, the former capital of Wallachia (the southern region of Romania), before Bucharest achieved this status. See the Princely Court and Chindia Tower (entrance fee not included), a 27-meter-high tower built by Vlad the Impaler to fortify the court against enemy attacks. Inside you’ll find an exhibition focused on the life and reign of Vlad the Impaler, but watch out for the impaled mannequins, they’re a bit creepy.
Snagov Monastery - Next, it’s off to Snagov village to check out the monastery (entrance fee not included), dating from 1408, famous due to the legend of Dracula; it is said to be the place where Vlad the Impaler’s head is buried. Don’t worry, you won’t find any headless horseman there, but you might spot a bat or two.
Upon arrival in Bucharest, you will be dropped off at your hotel and ready to tell all your friends about your wild and funny adventure through Romania.
