A Dawn Adventure: Setting Off to Oslob

The alarm buzzed at an ungodly hour, but the promise of a day filled with adventure was enough to get me out of bed. My wife and I were picked up at 3:30 AM from our hotel in Mactan by Wilson, our driver for the day. Wilson, a reggae artist with the band “Selah Dub Warriors,” filled the early morning silence with stories and laughter, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable day. As we drove through the quiet streets, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of anticipation. The ocean was calling, and I was ready to answer.

We arrived at our first stop just as the sun began to peek over the horizon. Our guide, Jimbo Boy, suggested we head to Tumalog Falls first, allowing us to avoid the crowds and make the most of our time. After a light breakfast, we hopped on motorbikes to tackle the steep hill leading to the falls. The ride was exhilarating, and the sight of the cascading water was a perfect wake-up call. Swimming alongside a turtle and a swirling mass of sardines was a highlight, a moment of pure joy that I’ll never forget. The day continued with visits to other islands, each offering its own unique charm and beauty. By the time we returned to our hotel, exhausted but exhilarated, I knew this was a day that would stay with me forever. Wilson kindly stopped at a supermarket on the way back, allowing us to pick up some drinks to toast to an incredible adventure.
