Epic adventure and must do unique experience! - Oh wow! Packed day full of exploration and memories made. Yes, we started at 3am with a long 2 hr car ride to Oslob and check into Whale Shark experience. Since we were number 150’s we went for light breakfast and to Tumalog Waterfalls, which opened at 7am. We were one of the first to get into waterfalls so was able to enjoy before massive student tour groups came. Visually stunning waterfalls! It was freezing cold water though. There’s a small pool with fish that will eat your dead skin on foot.
When it was our turn for Whale Shark experience we used our own snorkel mask and had such a fun time watching a guide feed shrimp as the massive whale sharks swam by us. Such a cool spectacle. No, you cannot touch or get too close but we were close enough to soak in their beauty! Time goes by fast and you only have 30-45 mins to view whale sharks so get your cameras ready! After this, we bought a refreshing mango graham cracker smoothie and had a nice lunch. Teah was our guide for the morning half and she was wonderful!
The second half was another 2 hour drive away to canyoneering in Badian that ends at Kawasan Falls. Jemrex and Berto were our awesome guides who took us through an epic adventure safely! Starting with zip line to maneuvering through the rocks and river that was blue cool waters. Sliding, jumping, swinging, swimming and floating adventure paradise! Jemrex carefully used my phone and captured incredible video footage and photos the entire time. We are glad we chose private tour bc we were able to navigate in front of large groups much faster. My brother and I had a blast and the long road trip was well worth the memories and experience. Huge thanks to our guides and driver for an epic adventure!

The guides were all... - The guides were all amazing friendly and helpful. It’s a long trip and started really early so that you have the best chance of seeing everything. Just make sure you are in moderately decent shape for the canyoneering and make sure to bring cash with you for stops through the canyon for food and drinks. Highly recommend the tour group they were fantastic

Beyond FIVE STARS! Here is the breakdown… - I have been around the block in many tourist destinations but this one tops them all. Let’s start with the attention from every single guide, driver, and crew. So kind and attentive. That alone is beyond a five star review.
Long tour and long day! But all worth it. We left the hotel at 3 AM and got back almost at 9 pm. Never a dull moment. Recommend bringing food for the afternoon portion. Snacks, water, etc.
Whale Shark tour - (about 4 hour drive from Mactan) long wait (somebody mentioned that 2 am pickup would have been better) but that gave us time to have breakfast and buy souvenirs and take some pics. People watching will keep you entertained until your number is called.
Roughly 30 minutes in the water, I brought my fins and mask as a free diver and jump off the boat and did my own thing which is allowed. Wish I knew about the freedom so I could plan better pics.
You will see them and they will even bump you out of the way if not paying attention. Gentle impressive giants and a 10/10 experience.
Tumalog Waterfall - fantastic sight! An hour here is more than enough and very close to the whale shark tour area. Bring a waterproof camera for those magic shots. Your guide will take care of your cell and take plenty of pics of you.
Kawasan Falls - another 10/10. Highly recommend the ZIP LINE shortcut to get there. Is the best $18 you will spend. Long trek through amazing canyons with fast moving refreshing water. Although it was like 4 hour hike, it was so engaging that you don’t realize it. The guides are fantastic. They take so many pics of you that you don’t have to worry too much about creating those memories. Absolutely beautiful place.
Summary - this tour didn’t only provided us with stunning experiences and beautiful scenarios but it also allowed us to have that cultural immersion in the process. From people around you to the guides and driver…amazing! Super safe, no worries about watching your back, and the driver kept our personal belongings safeguarded. Tip them! They truly deserve every penny!

amazing tour of whale sharks and canyoneering. epic! - I thought I was getting us closer to Oslob by choosing a hotel in Moalboal, but it seems like wherever you are in Cebu, the pickup is still going to be at an ungodly hour! I booked this tour. I believe this is the main tour operator in Cebu with a gazillion tours, tour guides, drivers and partnerships.
The driver will drop you off in Oslob where a tour guide (I can’t remember her name, but she was fantastic) will take over and wait in line with you while you get a number. There are mobs of tourists in line. It was the most crowded of any experience we had done. We registered and got #224. Our tour guide said they stop service at around 500. After you get your number, you get safety instructions (mandatory life jacket, do not touch the whale sharks, wash off your sunscreen…). Then we went to breakfast at a nearby hotel while we waited for our number to be called. All the tour guides communicate via cell and they’re constantly checking to see what numbers are being called. After breakfast, we went to a waterfall. By the time we returned two hours later, they were calling 200s.
Once your number is called, you get fitted with a life jacket and the tour guide holds all the rest of your belongings. You have the option of renting a GoPro (I highly recommend) and someone manning the boat essentially becomes your deep sea photographer and takes really great shots and videos of you that you don’t even know are happening until afterwards when you transfer everything to your phone. It was a 30 minute experience and the highlight of our trip. Honestly, I thought the whale sharks were smaller than I expected. I kept wondering whether it was going to be worth waking up so early. My 11-year-old said yes yes, he would have woken up even earlier to see the whale sharks. He was so happy to swim with them.
By this point, I had run out of cash and we went to 3 out-of-service ATMs before finding a 4th one that worked and dispensed cash.
After lunch, we got transitioned to two tour guides for our canyoneering experience which I felt was almost as good as seeing the whale sharks. The canyoneering is several hours of ziplining, hiking and swimming. One of our guides took my phone out of the waterproof cover and took the best photos/videos. I was worried the phone would get wet, but he was like..don’t worry. I’ve got it. And we would be swimming in deep water and he’d have my phone raised in his right hand. I was stunned at his agility and balance! He was awesome.

Overall great experience with some caveats - We booked the Oslob Whale Shark, Tumalog Falls, and Kawasan Falls Canyoneering tour. Unfortunately, the canyoneering portion didn’t happen due to not enough participants signing up, so we switched to the whale sharks, sea turtles, and sardine run instead. Overall, it was still a great experience and one I can recommend.
The “light” breakfast was very light, just an egg and toast, so don’t expect much there.
The whale shark experience, however, was truly impressive. You’re not supposed to approach or touch the sharks, but they often come very close on their own. Each shark has a guide leading and feeding it. We had three whale sharks right around our boat and probably eight more in the surrounding waters. The water was fairly clear, and while life vests are required initially, experienced swimmers are allowed to remove them and swim freely away from the boat.
Tumalog Falls was beautiful. The water was cold but bearable. There is an extra charge per person to have riders take you down from the road to the falls themselves. They also had a separate pond with fish that clean your legs, including some decent sized tilapia, which I really enjoyed.
Lunch was shared among the group and included a variety of options. Everything tasted very good. That said, there were dogs around the dining area, and we had to relocate tables due to a large number of ants at our first table.
When we went diving with the turtles and sardines, we jumped in directly on top of some sea lice, which is never enjoyable. However, jellyfish and sardines share a food source, so it’s something you should expect in that area.
I did not enjoy the turtle experience at all. There were about two turtles when we arrived, and the crowds were large and aggressive, with people fighting to get photos. While the turtles themselves are incredible animals, the experience was spoiled by the chaos. One issue is that the turtles feed on reef very close to the shallow beach, which allows inexperienced swimmers to get right on top of them.
The sardine run, on the other hand, was absolutely amazing. The school easily numbers in the millions. The ledge drops off sharply into near darkness, and the school stretched from the beach all the way out to the open ocean. The water was murky, and I was having some issues with my mask at this point, but it was still breathtaking. The sardines completely blocked your view of anything beyond them and shimmered beautifully as they moved together like a flock of birds.
One important thing to note is the early departure. You’ll leave Cebu between 3:30 and 4:00 AM, and the ride is not the most comfortable, with roughly six hours on the road total. That said, all of the staff throughout the day were amazing and very supportive.
Despite a few drawbacks, this was an overall great experience and one I would recommend.

I booked a private tour... - I booked a private tour via TripAdvisor. It was an exceptional experience and I would like to thank all the guides. Unfortunately I do not remember all their names. They took care of me like of their own children :). My first guide was a lady who helped me to get good position for the whale shark experience, took me photos and videos and even negotiated prices for rentals and moto taxi. The guides took me pics and I have over 200 photos. If you pay a private tour, you do not have private guides but also photographers. I really appreciated the private tour in Kawasan falls when the the majority of tourists had to wait for all the group to take pictures, move through the river and perform activities. I moved much faster at my own pace and my guide Ramil was also an excellent photographer, even adding some effects to the photos and videos. The car driver Edmar stopped when I needed and when I asked him, I visited two great places to fly my drone and got some good footage.

Amazing Experiences, But Long Day and Poor Logistics - This tour delivers incredible experiences, but the logistics, food planning, and communication around extra costs fall short — especially for families.
The activities themselves were excellent and exactly as described. Our whole family, including our 12- and 14-year-old kids, really enjoyed all three excursions — Tumalog Falls, whale shark swimming, and canyoneering. Swimming with the whale sharks and the canyoneering experience in particular were highlights and absolutely worth doing.
The driver was excellent, and the activity guides were top-notch — especially during canyoneering, where they were attentive, proactive, and great about helping with photos and safety.
The main downside of this tour was the food and overall logistics. Breakfast was very small and did not match the description — no fruit was provided as advertised. Lunch was good, but we finished eating around 11:00am, and we were not dropped back at our hotel until after 9:00pm, with no opportunity to get dinner. That is a very long stretch, especially for families, so we strongly recommend bringing plenty of snacks.
There were also several additional out-of-pocket costs (such as the optional snorkel rental and zip line during canyoneering) that weren’t clearly communicated in advance and required having extra cash on hand.
Overall, the experiences themselves were fantastic. That said, if you plan to do South Cebu in one day, I’d recommend choosing a tour operator that doesn’t overcrowd the vehicle (there were 9 passengers in our van), clearly discloses all extra costs in advance, and plans food and comfort better for such a long day.

Don't book with this operator - Originally had a group tour booked. I messaged them to confirm everything was good for the following day. They said they didnt have enough for a group so said I would be required to pay another 150$ to do a private tour. I agreed. Tour told me its busy season son they move the pick up time from 3:30 am to 3am. They never showed up. We planned out whole trip around this tour and it was completely ruined. Find a reputable tour operator if you want to see the whalesharks and falls.
