Good tour! - Good amount of walking, so be prepared. But nothing crazy. You see cool neighborhoods and scenes you might not otherwise see on your own or on more mainstream tours. Well paced as far as food spacing. High quality food, meal portions, and nice venues. My recommendation would be to do a mainstream tour of the major Oslo spots, or go on your own, see the museums, and then do this tour. Our tour guide Margarita, definitely depended my understanding of Norwegian culture which was helpful after seeing the highlights.

A Wonderful "Taste" of Oslo (literally)! - What a wonderful "taste" (literally) of Oslo! Annie was a fantastic guide who was full of great info and fun stories about the city. We took a lovely walk through several areas of town that we would not have otherwise known about, and had 3 fantastic food stops: first, for a bowl of traditional fish soup, second was a longer stop at a super cute farm-to-table restaurant where we enjoyed a sample platter of locally sourced meats & produce, all delicious and presented beautifully! And finally a stop at a waffle truck where we got to try waffles filled with brown cheese and butter. All the food was SO YUMMY!!!! Hard to choose which I liked best. We did not find the walk to be uncomfortably challenging, but it definitely was long and there were some inclines involved. So, I would say moderately vigorous? As long as you don't have any significant mobility issues and are in reasonably decent shape you should be fine. Also, we did take a tram to get to our final stop, so you do get some relief at the end, lol (be aware that you will have to purchase a tram ticket, which was about $4 USD). Overall, a great experience that I would definitely recommend!

Food & City Walk - We did the Food and Hidden Gem City Walk Tour in Oslo and absolutely loved it. Our guide, Annie, was fantastic—so knowledgeable, engaging, and an all-around great guide. We really enjoyed spending the day with her and learning so much about Oslo. The food we tried along the way was very good—light, but a perfect showcase of what the city is known for and what locals enjoy. The balance of walking and tasting made it such a fun experience. I’d definitely recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oslo who enjoys food, culture, and a good walk. Annie truly made the day special, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with her.

An unforgettable walking tour with a fabulous guide - We have taken many walking tours in many countries (Italy, France, Germany, England, Scotland), but none compare to this Norwegian food and hidden gems tour with Idunn. She was an ideal tour guide -- friendly, funny, extremely knowledgeable about contemporary Oslo as well as its cultural history. And her English (for those of us who struggle with Norwegian) was impeccable. We began our tour near the Oslo Central Station, and immediately headed to one of the best fish restaurants in the city for lunch (Fiskereit), where we had a wonderfully creamy, ocean-fresh fish stew. From there we headed to the Fairy Tale Bridge, decorated with sculptures representing various Norwegian folktales and legend (the Peer Gynt sculpture is a highlight). Then it was on to one of the historic residential districts in Norway, atop a hill that gives panoramic views of the city. For our afternoon meal we walked to "Bønder i Byen Grünerløkka," a farm to table restaurant in the diverse and hip Grünerløkka district ("Bønder i Byen translated to "farmers in the city) where we enjoyed a delicious tasting menu featuring local produce, meat and seafood. After this meal we walked along the Akerselva river, through the Sagene and Nydalen neighborhoods, parts of which make you feel like you are strolling through a magical forest. Our last stop was at a funky cafe along this river where we had a classic Norwegian desert -- waffles with fresh raspberry jam and "brown cheese" ("Geitost"). After several hours we felt like we had experienced areas and aspects of Oslo that few tourists have the privilege of discovering. Hats off to Idunn and OsloNature!
