Participants can join an experienced guide and storyteller for a captivating evening or daytime walk, where they will discover the castle’s rich history and the numerous ghosts believed to inhabit the area. The guide will lead a historical exploration of Osaka Castle’s past and the many spirits residing there. Tales of warrior monks, cursed stones, vengeful spirits, and mythical Yokai are just a few of the stories shared during the tour. Additionally, participants will learn about the battles, sieges, and legendary Samurai who influenced Japanese history and transformed the nation forever!

Excellent mix of history and ghost stories - Naill is a knowledgable guide who helped us learn about the history of the castle as well as stories of hauntings. We had a great time and felt we were hanging out with a friend who can tell gripping stories. A must for fans of the Sho-gun series on Hulu because you will hear some of the inspiration for story lines in the series.
I’ve recommended Osaka Haunts to friends visiting Osaka and highly recommend him to all.

Eerie and Fun - My husband and I had a great time! Our tour guide, Niall, gave us great background history and relevant dark (ghost) stories while taking us through the quiet and eerie parts of the castle and park grounds (as well as some great photography spots). We were surprised at how empty the place is at night. Very different feeling than if you go during the day time. Really some fascinating stuff. Highly recommend!

Best haunted tour - Amazing tour, the host was very knowledgeable about the history of the castle as well as the grounds, he took us all over the castle grounds for some amazing photo spots. Truly the best experience I had with the castle in my several years of visiting

Highly recommended - We joined the Haunted Osaka Tour because we wanted to learn more about Osaka Castle. To be honest, we were a bit worried beforehand that the ghost aspect of the tour might feel gimmicky, but it turned out to be an incredibly fun and highly informative experience.
We were also lucky to be part of a very small group, which made the tour feel extra personal and engaging. Niall truly does an amazing job, you can immediately feel how passionate he is about the stories and the history behind them.
Highly recommended for anyone visiting Osaka who wants a different and memorable way to discover the city’s history.

Absoluetly great experience - Absoluetly great. We had a lot of fun on this Tour. A good mixture of history and spooky. The guide is an awesome guy. He knows a lot and is very funny. Would recommend everyone to try this tour. 11/10

A hauntingly good time. - What a wonderful experience! For sure a highlight of my 2026 Japan trip! The guide was super knowledgeable, funny, and respectful. He took us to amazing vantage points of Osaka castle. He was engaging and genuinely fun to be around. If you have the opportunity to go on this tour I would highly reccomend it!

An exciting and interesting history of Osaka Castle. Plenty of hauntingly beautiful spots to see and no crowds. - This tour was perfect. Niall, our guide was extremely knowledgeable and we were able to visit and learn more about what made the locations haunted. Without the bustling crowds and with it being in the evening, it made the tour even better and a bit eerie.
I’d recommend this tour over visiting inside the castle, which has been rebuilt and houses a museum with no sections showing what it may have looked like in its time. He also made sure we captured images in the most beautiful spots on the grounds.

Spot on - Tour is well worth it and is great to know the history behind what you’re looking at. Tour guide was spot on as well. Very knowledgeable, friendly and approachable and we felt like he was very easy to get on with. Would highly recommend. (Tour guide also recommended where to go after to get on the drink and his recommendation didn’t disappoint)

A fabulously eery evening! - This was such a fun experience! Niall (our tour guide) was so knowledgeable and informative. From start to finish we were hooked, learning about some of the history of Osaka Castle and it’s grounds. A fabulously eery evening! Niall was professional and friendly, also answering questions we had along the way. The tour was also at a good pace for those of us with sore feet after a day of exploring! We would recommend this tour for anyone looking for something a bit different and fun, whilst also wanting to learn some history about Osaka Castle!

A must book tour! - This is a must- book tour. Niall was an amazing and super knowledgeable guide. Properly scary, including taking flashlights into the woods around the castle. I was looking over my shoulder more than once and our imaginations were captured by all the history - bloody and violent though it was. Five stars!
