- Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine - Established in 711 to honor the Shinto deity of rice, Inari, Fushimi Inari Taisha is consistently ranked among Japan’s most popular sites. It is the most frequented shrine in Japan, attracting over 2.5 million visitors during the first three days of the new year, who come to pray for prosperity, especially in work and business.
Join locals and tourists as they ascend through the 1,000 torii gates that adorn the hillside, immersing themselves in over 1300 years of history.
- Gion - Stroll through the Gion district and admire Kyoto’s traditional townscape. Enjoy lunch and some free time in this area. Savor a meal and shop for souvenirs in the charming old stores. With some luck, you might spot a Geiko or Maiko (Geisha) in the vicinity.
- Nara Park - The tour conductor will share insights about Nara’s history and nearby temples while assisting you in feeding and interacting with the renowned bowing deer of Nara Park.
Crackers for feeding the deer are available from vendors at 200 yen per pack.
- Todai-ji Temple - Constructed to pray for national peace, the Great Buddha Hall at Todaiji Temple is one of the world’s largest wooden structures, measuring approximately 57m in width, 50m in depth, and 48m in height. Initially completed in 751, it was destroyed in 1181 and 1567. The current building, rebuilt in 1709, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1998.
- Todai-ji Nandaimon (Grand South Gate) - Approach The Great South Gate, or Nandaimon, the main entrance to Todai-ji Temple, and marvel at its grandeur. Standing at about 25.5m tall, the Nandaimon gate is a colossal structure, and the Ni-o guardian statues housed within are a sight to behold. Walk through this impressive gate and admire the magnificent large wooden Ni-o statues.
- Yumekaze Plaza - Arrive at Nara Park and disembark with the tour conductor at Yumekaze Plaza for a brief restroom break before continuing the tour.
