Your guide will be holding a sign that says “Osaka Food Walking Tour”.
You’ll see a big penguin sign on the building, so it’s easy to find.

Great insight to old school Osaka - Amazing time. Great people and great guide. Taro made sure we were well take of. He made sure we had a great time. He was very attentive to my family and other guests. Very kind and knowledgable. 4 stops with great tour through the city and great food.

May 2026 trip - Max did an incredible job with our food tour. He had great info about the places and areas we were in. It was truly a pleasure to experienced Osaka food with him. The places we went were great but Max elevated the entire experience. We were very pleased with our food tour and would absolutely recommend it to anyone looking to have a great time with a great guide enjoying some delicious food.

Gastronomic evening in Shinsekai - Since I was traveling solo, thought it would be nice to do a local food experience in the Shinsekai area away from the crowds of Dotonbori. Meet up spot was outside of the Mega Don Quijote near the Doubutsuen-mae Subway station. There were a couple of English speaking tour guides from the same company that also meet up there so they will check your names and assign you to smaller groups (our group has a family from Australia , guys from Germany and an American lady living in Seoul).
Our guide Taro explained a bit about Osaka, some of its culture and the area and food we will be trying on the tour and brought us through the streets of Shinsekai as the evening grew livelier on a Friday night.
A total of 4 stops for the evening - firstly a variety of kushikatsu (deep fried skewers) at a retro looking Japanese restaurant, then takoyaki (octopus balls) fresh off the press, also gyoza (pork dumplings) at a narrow bar seating spot and last stop was for an assortment of sushi (tuna, salmon, unagi, tamagoyaki, temaki with clam miso soup that was really flavorful. By that time, everyone in the group was pretty full. *You only pay for the drinks at the gyoza and sushi spot.
Taro was attentive and checked on our needs on and off through the 3 hour tour and asked to learn new words and phrases in the various languages we spoke. It was a nice lovely cooling gastronomic evening that I would recommend the tour for solo travelers to wants to try a bit of what Osaka is known for without having to order a big portion.
