Teppo-Haza features a total of 16 guns, with 8 positioned at Kasaishi crenels and 8 at maruhasama on the earthen wall (2 on each Kasaishi crenel atop the megalith). Originally, a tamon turret was situated on the stone walls flanking the earthen wall, and a kuruwa for hanging horizontal arrows was located on the left side of the earthen bridge.
The view of Sakuramon Dobashi Bridge from Yokoyakake Point of Sakuramon Gate is notable. Every earthen bridge in Osaka Castle is equipped with a crossbar. -
Japanese garden - In 1931 (Showa 6), alongside the reconstruction of Osaka Castle’s tower, the city of Osaka developed this purely Japanese-style garden as part of Kishu Palace, which was constructed on the east side at that time.
The central pond spans 300 tsubo, shaped like a crane wing, with a rocky mountain as its backdrop. From the south side of the pond, the garden is designed to offer a view of the castle tower. -
Osaka Castle Main Tower (Osaka Castle Museum) - Osaka Castle, built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi with the aim of unifying the country, is renowned as the most challenging castle to conquer.
Standing 55 meters tall, it boasts five levels and eight stories. The golden embellishments, including the ornate shachi on the top roof and the fushitora (tiger) beneath the kagaran (columns), shine brilliantly. It is celebrated as a prime example of castle architecture, standing proudly against the blue sky.
Note: Entry into the castle keep is not included. - Hokoku Shrine - Situated in front of Osaka Castle’s Sakura Gate, this shrine is dedicated to Lords Toyotomi Hideyoshi, Toyotomi Hideyori, and Toyotomi Hidenaga. The ruins of Osaka Castle mark the site where followers of Ishiyama Honganji Temple resisted Oda Nobunaga’s forces for 11 years during the Battle of Ishiyama. The area was so well-fortified that even Nobunaga opted for peace, leading Hideyoshi to choose it for his castle to pacify the country. It is considered a sacred area for worship, closely connected to the enshrined deity.

Site of Aoyamon Gate - Osaka Castle features four entrances and exits, one of which is Aoyamon. The gate in the square is known as Aoyamon.
Despite its impressive appearance, Aoyamon is not classified as an important cultural property, as it was restored. - South Outer Moat - Following the winter campaign in Osaka, Ieyasu devised a strategy against the Toyotomi faction, including the reclamation of the moat in the peace agreement terms. Consequently, not only the outer moat but also the inner moat, Ninomaru, and Sannomaru were reclaimed. After dismantling Osaka Castle, the Osaka Natsu no Jin⚔ commenced.

The place where Toyotomi Hideyori and Yododono took their lives - During the Osaka Summer Battle, Toyotomi Hideyori, the lord of Osaka Castle, and his mother, Yodo-dono, took their own lives shortly after the castle’s fall.
A monument believed to mark the site of their suicide is located nearby. -
Osaka Castle Main Tower (Osaka Castle Museum) - This tour does not include entry into the castle tower, so please plan to visit it independently later.
Reason 1➤ Waiting in line for entry exceeds an hour.
Reason 2➤ Photography is prohibited inside the castle tower. - Gokuraku-bashi Bridge (Osaka Castle) - “Gokurakubashi” serves as a bridge to Paradise.
- Inner Moat - This inner moat was not filled as part of Ieyasu’s peace strategy during the Siege of Osaka; it has been an “empty moat” without water since the castle’s construction.
- Display of Engraved Stones - Engraved stones are those carved by retainers of feudal lords tasked with constructing Osaka Castle’s stone walls, as well as by stonemasons. During the stone gathering and stacking process, characters or patterns were carved onto individual stones as needed. Additionally, the family crests of the responsible feudal lords were etched onto the surfaces of the completed stone walls.
-
Osaka Castle Bairin - Approximately 1,245 plum trees of 105 varieties are planted here.
In early spring (the plum grove at Osaka Castle Park is best viewed from late January to mid-March; varieties include early-blooming, standard-blooming, and late-blooming types, allowing for a long viewing period, with overall peak bloom typically occurring from late February to early March), it bursts into a magnificent display of colorful blossoms, attracting many visitors.
