Designed by Kanamori Munakazu, the spring-style gardens “Jubi Garden” and “Youqing Garden” are perfect for enjoying Sanzen-in’s scenery in every season. The temple’s main wooden statue of Amitabha Buddha and the accompanying statues are recognized as important national cultural properties. (Tickets: 700 yen for adults, 400 yen for junior high and high school students, 150 yen for elementary school students)
- Arashiyama Bamboo Forest - Situated in Arashiyama, the Sagano Bamboo Forest features a 500-meter-long trail. Visitors can access the bamboo forest by walking through Nonomiya Shrine towards Okouchi Villa. As you stroll through the forest, the sound of the wind rustling through the bamboo leaves can be heard, a sound that has been honored as one of Japan’s 100 most worthy of preservation. - Footbath (Onsen) of Arashiyama Station - Nestled in the HANNARI-HOKKORI Plaza, the Japanese-style footbath at Arashiden Arashiyama Station is inspired by JR Kyushu Yufuin Station. Visitors can purchase seasonal desserts from the nearby store to enjoy while relaxing in the footbath. The soothing waters of Arashiyama Hot Spring are perfect for relieving fatigue after a day of walking. Address: 20-2, Saga Tenryuji-Zojicho, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto City (use fee 200 yen including towel). The footbath is self-service; tickets can be purchased at the station information center, and a towel is provided for drying feet. Please wash your feet before entering the bath; a washing area is available at the entrance.
