With a style that is as witty as it is engaging, Tracie and Gian deliver a skillful blend of natural history and human lore. Guests can expect to learn about fascinating topics on everything from bugs to bats, to all that creeps, crawls and flies by night.
This is Drake Bay’s first and longest running nocturnal adventure, with over 20 years in operation. Join us for one of the most unique excursions in Costa Rica. Minimum age limit 8 years old. Tennis shoes or hiking boots required. Please let us know where you are lodging! This is important. Because of logistics we do not offer the tour from all area hotels!

Fascinating tour and highlight on our trip to Costa Rica - We had the chance to join the NIght Tour with the Bug Lady, and it was one of the highlights of our trip! The experience was fascinating from start tot finish.
Tracie and Gianfranco were incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the rainforest. They brougth the night to life by showing us creatures we would never have noticed on our own. From tiny insects to camouflaged frogs and even nocturnal mammals. The explanations were clear, engaging, and filled with fun facts that made the walk both educational and entertaining.
The organization was excellent and the atmosphere felt save and welcoming. The pace of the walk was just right, giving us time to observe, take photos and ask questions. What impressed me most was how much respect they showed for the animals and their natural habitat.
if you're visiting Drake Bay, this night tour is an absolute must. You''ll see the rainforest in a completely new way, and you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the incredible diversity of wildlife. Truly a 5-star experience.

Informative, captivating, worth doing many more times ! - The Night Tour with the Bug Lady was absolutely captivating!
From start to finish it was informative, engaging, and full of wonder. Tracie and Gian made the jungle come alive with fascinating stories and deep knowledge, weaving science and storytelling in a way that kept me hooked the whole time.
Over several hours of casual walking , we got to see an incredible variety of creatures — insects, reptiles, and bats — all while feeling completely safe in the dark jungle. The tour struck the perfect balance of adventure and education, and left us with a whole new appreciation for the hidden world that comes alive at night. Their deep respect for everything alive and their passion for identifying new species was contagious !
It was especially exciting to find the wasp with the zombie fungus .(Entomopathogenic Fungus)
Truly a priceless unforgettable experience — highly recommended! 🌿✨,

A must tour in Drake Bay! - We had a tour with Bug Lady last night with a small group. The tour was fascinating, educational, and truly enriching. They made sure we were safe the entire time, giving precise instructions to avoid slipping or any accidents. We saw animals and insects we’d never encountered before, discovered the night in Drake Bay, and got great tips on spotting wildlife even back home. It was an amazing experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area – a definite must-do!

A night with the Bug Lady. - We had a phenomenal time with our kids on the rainforest tour in Drake Bay this past September. The “bug lady” made the experience unforgettable for all of us.
Her knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm for the rainforest and its incredible insects were truly inspiring. Her husband was also part of the tour and added so much with his charisma and deep knowledge of the rainforest. Together, they made the entire experience fun, educational, and engaging for both kids and adults. We left with a greater appreciation for the rainforest and its fascinating inhabitants. Highly recommended for families and anyone curious about nature.

So beautiful and fun!!! - We had an amazing night walk with Tracy and Gian. They gave us such a fun and exciting tour through the wildlife at night, and we were able to spot so many different species. Their passion and knowledge are truly inspiring, and they made the whole experience unforgettable. Highly recommend!!

Fascinating Night Walk with Expert Guides - We had an incredible experience on the night walk tour! We saw so many amazing insects, amphibians, and other animals, each more fascinating than the last. Our guides, Tracie and Gianfranco, were patient, entertaining, and most importantly, true experts on all the wildlife in the area. They were also very safety conscious, making us feel comfortable the entire time. After the tour, they even offer a follow-up by sharing extra photos and resources about what we had seen, which was a wonderful touch. Communication before and after the tour was prompt and friendly. Overall, a fantastic and memorable experience—highly recommended!

Fascinating! At it to your itinerary. - Such a unique and interesting tour. Tracie and Gianfranco are so knowledgeable in the chosen fields and their enthusiasm is infectious. We saw some really cool new creatures but also saw some creatures we'd seen before a new light. We were left inspired to find out more. It's a must do tour in Bahia Drake

Exceptional night of learning and discovery!! - What an incredible evening! We encountered so many creatures of the night and learned so much from Tracie and Gian! Wonderful guides and they work so well
