Embark from Rome to arrive at Orvieto, an age-old Etruscan settlement, perched on a massive tufa plateau. Explore the St. Patrick’s well, commissioned by Pope Clement VII in 1529 to maintain a water resource for the city during sieges. Then, make your way to the radiant Piazza del Duomo to witness one of Italy’s most magnificent medieval architectural marvels, the S. Maria Assunta Cathedral, featuring its mesmerizing facade. Visit Civita di Bagnoregio, referred to as the ‘Dying City,’ attached to the world only by an elongated, narrow bridge. This captivating hamlet nestled on a spur of tufa rock overlooks the breathtaking badlands valley and conserves a cluster of age-old homes inhabited by a handful of families.
