Food Tours are an activity we look forward to doing in every city that we travel to so I was excited to try it out at home. I left hungry and dissapointed. We started at Artisan's table with a tequila shot and a risotto ball which was great. Next was Ferg's Depot and I was so disappointed. The ahi tuna tacos were the wrong color, so we sat that out. There were also oysters but the guy across the table said he wouldn't suggest eating them (as a non oyster eating person, I wasn't taking that chance). There was also the option for some sort of boneless wing but it looked like a chicken nugget. Next was Harp and Celt Irish Pub, the nachos were pretty good but we had just been offered nachos at Ferg's. Lastly, was Mochi and that was good. I expected to get more of a tour of the city, our tour guide mostly walked us to and from places with very little info in between. We purchased the food tour through Groupon/Living Social but if I had spent $80 for the two of us to do the tour, I would have been really upset, especially since we ended up ordering dinner as soon as we were finished with the tour.

I have been part of several walking food tours throughout the Orlando area, but this one was my least favorite. Let me start by saying that our guide, Jason, was amazing. We had a large group of 16 and he was pleasant and attentive. The tour itself, however, was mediocre at best. We visited 5 local restaurants on this food tour. The first, Le Gourmet Break, had several samples prepared, but only made a certain number of each. So depending where you fell in the selection process, you may have been out of luck by the time the tray made it to you. If the tour has booked a group of 16, why not make 16 of everything?? Our second stop was Artisans Table, where they had their extensive breakfast, lunch, dinner, and Magical Dining menus laid out in front of each of our seats. The restaurant host gave an amazing overview of the selections...our mouths were watering although we were all glancing around at each other in confusion. Were we going to be permitted to order whatever we desired from the menu?? Too good to be true, right? Of course it was. It turns out that what was prepared for us at this stop on the FOOD tour...was a coffee shot. That’s it. No food. We toasted our mostly empty stomachs and moved along to the next stop. The tour got better from there, but I just feel like the first two stops left a lot to be desired. Even the final dessert stop (Mochi’s), was a little too eclectic for everyone’s tastes. Basically, 60% of the offerings on this tour were a disappointment. As much as I enjoyed the walk downtown, I will stick with the Winter Park and Audubon Park tours from here on out. I’m just glad it was a Groupon and I hadn’t paid full price.

Our tour guide, Jason, was good. He was professional and personable. The time frame was a bit short at location that served alcohol. I didn't order any beer for this reason. Other customers, however, left unfinished beer on the table.
