Day 01: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Piscacucho – Wayllabamba

Day 01: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Piscacucho – Wayllabamba
Cusco-Peru- Ollantaytambo - The adventure begins in Cusco city, where the operator will pick guests up from their hotel at 6:00 am using private transportation. The journey continues to Ollantaytambo Inca town, arriving around 7:30 am. Here, breakfast will be served before proceeding to Piscacucho, also known as kilometer 82, the starting point of the trek.
During the initial part of the hike, the path is quite flat, allowing participants to admire the archaeological site of Ccanamarka. After approximately 2 hours, the group will reach the small village of Miskay. From this point, the trail becomes more challenging, ascending for about half an hour to the first archaeological site: Patallacta. Here, an expert guide will provide information about the site before continuing to the lunch location.
Inca Trail - The first segment of the hike is relatively flat, offering views of the Ccanamarka archaeological site. After about 2 hours, the group arrives at Miskay village. The path then ascends for another half hour to reach Patallacta, where the guide will share insights about the site. The journey continues for a few more minutes to the lunch spot.
In the afternoon, the hike to the Wayllabamba community, the campsite, takes a maximum of 1.5 hours. After completing the first day of hiking, participants can enjoy a hot shower (personal towels required) and meet the staff, including the chef, cooking assistant, and porters. The day concludes with hot beverages and a delicious dinner.
Day 02: Wayllabamba – Llulluchapampa - Pacaymayu
Inca Trail - The day begins with a hot coca tea and a nutritious breakfast. Participants should fill their bottles or camelbacks with drinkable water provided by the chef, along with snacks.
Inca Trail - The initial part of the trek involves climbing 2000 Inca steps, taking approximately 3 hours. During this hike, participants will enjoy the lush and dense vegetation, featuring native trees of the region.
Inca Trail - At the campsite, restrooms are available, and a hot shower will be ready. Participants will have leisure time, and those with energy can engage in birdwatching.
The day concludes with beverages, appetizers, and dinner.
Day 03: Pacaymayo – Runkuracay – Sayacmarka – Phuyupatamarca – Intipata – Wiñayhuayna
Inca Trail - The day starts with the sound of birds singing and a hot coca tea, followed by a delicious breakfast with the staff. The uphill hike begins, lasting approximately 45 minutes, leading to the Runkuracay archaeological site, an Inca checkpoint for over 500 years. After the visit, the hike continues for another 45 minutes to Runkuracay Pass, the highest point of the day at 3900 m.a.s.l., offering panoramic views of the Machupicchu national reserve’s mountain forest.
The hike descends for another hour to reach the Sayacmarka archaeological site, where the guide will explain its location and history. The journey continues through cobblestoned paths and tropical forests, rich in orchids and wildlife, leading to the lunch spot at Phuyupatamarca.
Inca Trail - After lunch, participants visit Phuyupatamarca, a significant Inca ritual center where archaeologists discovered Inca mummies of children, suggesting it was a sacrifice center. The tour concludes with a descent of Inca steps for approximately 2.5 hours, reaching Wiñayhuayna, the last campsite and archaeological center before Machupicchu. The staff will prepare a hot shower and towels, followed by a celebration.
The evening features a celebration with sparkling wine, marking the completion of the Inca trail. Participants will thank the staff for their efforts and excellent service, concluding with an official farewell.
Day 04: Wiñayhuayna – Intipunku – Machupicchu – Aguas Calientes – Ollantaytambo – Cusco
Machu Picchu - The motivation for the day is Machupicchu, prompting an early start to witness the sunrise and the sun illuminating Machupicchu.
The initial hike is uphill and downhill for about an hour, reaching Intipunku, where participants will enjoy a stunning view of the Machupicchu Historical Sanctuary and Huayna Picchu mountain. The descent continues for another 30 minutes to the spot for the iconic postal photo of this wonder.
After the photo session, clients will enjoy a private guided tour of Machupicchu Sanctuary, lasting approximately 2 hours. Following this, clients have leisure time to explore further or, if pre-booked, hike Huayna Picchu or Machupicchu mountain, guided by a professional.
Aguas Calientes - After the visit, clients will take a bus, included in the tour, to Aguas Calientes town for lunch and rest before boarding the Expedition class train at 16:22 pm, returning to Ollantaytambo train station. The journey takes about 1.45 hours, and upon arrival, a transfer will be waiting to drive clients back to Cusco city, delivering them to their respective hotels. The estimated arrival time in Cusco is 20:30 pm.
