Ollantaytambo - Guests will be collected from their hotel at 4:00 a.m. and taken to the train station. The train departs at 6:10 a.m. from Ollantaytambo, following the picturesque Urubamba River until reaching Km 104, where the trek begins.
During the journey, travelers will be treated to stunning views of farmland, snow-capped peaks, and the mighty Urubamba River, a major tributary of the Amazon River. Upon arrival at Km 104 (2,000 m / 6,561 ft), the hike will commence after ensuring all essentials are in place.
The guide will provide packed lunches and energy drinks, and a group photo will be taken before visiting the first Inca archaeological site of the day. If the weather permits, there will be breathtaking views of Machu Picchu, the Urubamba River, and several nearby Inca sites.
Winay Wayna - After approximately three hours of hiking, the group will arrive at one of the most stunning Inca sites on the Inca Trail: Wiñay Wayna (“Forever Young”), situated at 2,600 m / 8,500 ft. This remarkable archaeological site is less frequented by travelers, offering a truly unique experience.
Visitors will discover an intricate water fountain system, temples, and impressive agricultural terraces, providing an excellent opportunity to learn about Inca history, culture, and engineering. Wiñay Wayna’s setting is truly awe-inspiring—dramatically perched on a mountainside, surrounded by lush vegetation and spectacular mountain vistas. This extraordinary location perfectly demonstrates the Incas’ emphasis on selecting strategic and sacred sites within their landscape.
Machupicchu cusco - From Wiñay Wayna, the hike continues to the Sun Gate (Inti Punku), where the first breathtaking panoramic view of Machu Picchu below can be enjoyed. After taking in these unforgettable views and capturing memorable photos, the descent toward the citadel begins to experience Machu Picchu at sunset.
One of the greatest benefits of this hike is that by arriving in the late afternoon, most day visitors will have already departed, allowing for a much quieter and more serene experience of the site.
After capturing photos and soaking in the magical scenery, the group will take the bus down to Aguas Calientes, where they will spend the night in a comfortable hotel.
