The Call of the Andes: A Journey Begins

The allure of the Andes has always been irresistible to me, a biologist with a deep-seated passion for the natural world. The Short Inca Trail to Machu Picchu promised not only a trek through breathtaking landscapes but also a chance to immerse myself in the rich tapestry of Incan history and culture. As I embarked on this journey, I was filled with anticipation, eager to experience the magic of Machu Picchu at both sunrise and sunset.

Our adventure began in the early hours at Ollantaytambo, where the crisp morning air was filled with excitement. The train ride along the Urubamba River offered a serene introduction to the journey, with picturesque valleys and towering mountains setting the stage for what was to come. Upon reaching Km 104, the real adventure began. Our guides, Jason and Elias, were the perfect companions, their enthusiasm and knowledge setting the tone for the days ahead.
