The scene was very beautiful. However, the guide’s talk was more interesting. It’s really nice experience to know the Navajo’s history and way of thinking.

Hi-- this is a copy of what I will be posting later in TripAdvisor, along with a couple of photos once I finish editing them. REALLY enjoyed our tour and a big THANKS to Derick!! My wife and I were initially interested in seeing the various rock formations of Monument Valley and signed up for the Dineh Bekeyah "combination tour" of 3 hours in the morning touring Mystery Valley and 3 hours in the afternoon touring the “Backcountry” and Lower Monument Valley. Our guide (and a fantastic bonus treat!) was Derick who was a wealth of knowledge about the beautiful history, culture, and customs of the Navajo clans, as well as the geographic and geologic aspects of the many fantastic sights we experienced on our combined tour (both halves were quite different and unique). We were soon on sensory overload with the wealth of extremely interesting information about the beautiful Navajo culture, especially their traditions and mythology. Derick gave us a running dialog of what we were seeing, why it was important to the Navajo people, and what it was like growing up in Monument Valley, including the year he spent as a teen living in Northern California near our town. In addition, he was constantly in tune of our needs and had tons of patience answering all of our questions, insuring we got to see the very best scenery of his homeland, and insuring we didn’t fall and hurt ourselves during one of our many stops and “walk-abouts”.. Monument Valley is absolutely one of the most beautiful places we have been fortunate to visit in our world travels! It was made even more beautiful by Derick!! Our special thanks also to Charlene, the company owner, who answered all of my questions during the booking of this tour, and the extra support provided by Andrea….and Derick! This company is firing on all cylinders, and is a superior example of a complete dedication to being an industry leader. Thanks for one of the most rewarding days of our lives!

Monument Valley is indescribable. There were plenty of people who were doing a self guided tour. But I highly recommend Blackwater tours. You get so much more out of the experience and if you want, you can make a good friend. We did the sunset tour with Frank who told us all about monument valley and the history of the Navajo people. He even played his flute for us in this natural amphitheatre. We took the sunrise tour with Margie who was equally knowledgeable and friendly. Sunrise at monument valley is one of the wonders of the world. Do I sound a little partial. Perhaps. .

Did both sunset and sunrise tours Fred our guide was great! It was tough getting up for 5 am tour but worth it. Loved both tours but if we only could take one the sunrise tour was the best

The tour was great and the chance to see those areas unavailable to the public was well worth the price.
