Chin State - Situated in western Myanmar, Chin State’s capital is Hakha. This mountainous region has limited transportation links and is sparsely populated, making it one of the country’s less developed areas. This 4-day adventure extends from Bagan with a 4x4 drive to southern Chin State, including Fanpetal and Mindat. Mt. Victoria is a highlight, perfect for hiking, bird watching, and motorbike riding. The trek through Kant-Thar-Yon villages, visiting the homes of tattooed Chin ladies, trekking via unexplored trails to Kyar Do village, sitting with Chin families, swimming at Chi Creek, and a jungle trek to a wooden string bridge with a picnic lunch are invaluable experiences. The uphill drive to Mindat is thrilling, offering views of more Chin villages, traditional houses, and stunning landscapes. Meeting an elderly Chin lady with the world’s largest earrings, shopping for Chin fabrics at local markets, visiting the Chin Museum, and enjoying a sunset at Taung Pu Lu temple make for a fantastic Chin State adventure.
Kanpetlet - Following a visit to Bagan, the extended Chin State Adventure awaits, ideal for those who love culture, nature, eco-adventures, and mountain drives. The journey passes through central Myanmar’s dry zones, villages, beautiful countryside, and oil fields with donkeys in Chauk town. The famous tattooed Chin ladies, Mt. Victoria (over 10,000 feet above sea level), a pleasant climate, hidden Chin villages, and unexplored trekking trails are the main attractions. From Bagan, the drive to Fanpetal, located 4560 ft above sea level and about 101 miles away, takes approximately 5 hours, passing through Chauk, Seikphyu, and Kazunma towns. A stop in Saw village allows for a visit to tattooed women’s homes and a break. The road becomes hilly, rugged, and dusty before reaching Fanpetal. Upon arrival, lunch is served at Sone See Yarr Restaurant. In the afternoon, the Chin villages trek begins, exploring villages, mountain valleys, and hills. The day concludes at a local Chin home, tasting rice wine and homemade Chin-style chicken salad. A car returns you to the hotel. Dinner is at Mountain Oasis Hotel.
