As always, this was a wonderful way to be on the lake!! This particular cruise was Oktoberfest. It helped that it was a beautiful, cool, sunny October day, but I think it would have been fun even in the rain. One of the things I love about the Lake Hopatcong cruises is that they are careful not to fill their boat to bursting. There is always enough room to move, sit comfortably, and see the sights on the lake unobstructed. Oktoberfest food was wonderful- typical sauerbrauten, brats and sauerkraut, red cabbage and beets, German potato saladl, etc. ALL of it was delicious! Alcoholic drinks are available, but it is a cash bar. This time around, along with the normal alcoholic offerings, there were a couple of German beers, and some speciality cocktails made up just for this there. Every table in the cabin was topped with a small fall flower arrangement, and German band music played quietly in the background. We spent a lovely two hours cruising the lake and relaxing. Everything was perfectly timed, from the beginning of the buffet to the presentation of the bill for any drinks you had. At no time are you made to feel rushed. the crew is unfailingly cheerful and amazingly helpful, doing anything within their power to make your cruise a great experience. In fact, someone missed the sailing time yesterday, and after about an hour, they swung back and picked her up to join her group. Now, I'm not sure how often they go that far, as they said they had also run short of beer, and were going to pick more up at the same time, but it was still impressive! We have visited this boat a few times now, and will definitely be back next season. (In fact, I sort of wish they were open in the winter, to do a holiday cruise.)
