Family Fun at Ocho Rios: Our Blue Hole Adventure
When I heard about the Blue Hole Adventure in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, I knew it was a must-try for my family. Join me as I recount our thrilling day exploring waterfalls, jumping into pools, and experiencing the warmth of Jamaican hospitality.
A Warm Welcome to Jamaica
As a family travel writer, I’m always on the lookout for unique experiences that can bring families closer together. When I heard about the Blue Hole Adventure in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, I knew it was something my family and I had to try. Our adventure began with a warm welcome from our guide, Odain, who was waiting for us outside the Falmouth Courthouse. His punctuality and pleasant demeanor set the tone for the day. He even brought gifts for the kids, which was a delightful surprise!
Odain’s knowledge of Jamaica was impressive, and he patiently answered all our questions during the drive to the Blue Hole. It was clear that he was passionate about sharing the beauty of his island with visitors. As we drove through the lush landscape, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement for the day ahead.
Diving into the Blue Hole
Upon arriving at the Blue Hole, we were greeted by the stunning sight of natural limestone sinkholes and cascading waterfalls. The adventure truly began as we climbed to a platform and jumped into the uppermost pool. My son and I couldn’t resist the thrill of jumping into various pools, guided by Jay, who ensured our safety and made the experience even more enjoyable.
Meanwhile, my husband and daughter opted for a more leisurely experience, walking up the falls and taking in the breathtaking views. The Blue Hole offered something for everyone, making it a perfect family-friendly destination. We decided to purchase the photo package, and for $100, we received 104 fantastic family photos, Airdropped to us on the spot. It was a wonderful way to capture the memories of our adventure.
Conquering Dunn’s River Falls
After our exhilarating time at the Blue Hole, we headed to Dunn’s River Falls & Park. Skipping lunch, we were eager to continue our adventure. Floyd, our guide, led us on a 45-minute trek from the beach to the top of the falls. The climb was challenging but incredibly rewarding, and the views from the top were simply breathtaking.
Throughout the day, we were touched by the hospitality of the Jamaican people, especially considering the recent hurricane that had affected the island. Their resilience and warmth were truly inspiring. Opting for a private tour allowed us to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more personalized experience, something I highly recommend for families looking to make the most of their time in Jamaica.
As we returned to our ship for lunch, I reflected on the day’s adventures and the memories we had created as a family. The Blue Hole Adventure in Ocho Rios was more than just a day of fun; it was an opportunity to connect with each other and the beautiful island of Jamaica. I can’t wait to share more family-friendly adventures with you all!
