Amazing staff and killer experience! - The absolute funnest time I've ever had! Rob is such a character and definitely gets you hyped to have the experience of a lifetime. Shout out to Joselyne, Rob, Mitchel, and the rest of the staff, they're kicking butt with the charisma and entertainment in the blazing sun! Sun buggy Pismo beach staff you're doing fantastic!! I'd say give em a raise! 15/10

Great Ride! - Gilbert was amazing! I had an issue with my ATV and I had to dial the number for recovery and he came quickly and was able to help me out with a new ATV replacement. The dunes was so much fun! Be aware of the zones, if you are just starting out, I recommend zone 1. Zone 2 even may be too much for a beginner. I was able to ride zones 1-3. I stayed away from zone 4, I don't know what that's like. I would totally go this again!

Good experience with one shortcoming - Knowledgeable team and great, safe buggies. Only wish that they had given us goggles. Sand got in our eyes multiple times. If you are using Sun Buggy, insist on goggles.

Go elsewhere or save your money. - Scruffy place. Underpowered buggies, not well maintained. The staff were friendly, the crowd rowdy, the vehicles marginal, the location a dirty mess.

Will use any excuse to take every last dollar they can - This would have been a five star review, but the staff took the opportunity to wring every last dollar they could out of us before we left. We rented four ATVs and paid for the full damage and belt coverage. My friends and I enjoyed the two hours on four ATVs and were fairly conservative during our ride, but we did tip an ATV over in the sand. Despite there being no damage to the ATV, my friend admitted that the ATV rolled while doing a cookie (he was really just turning). We were told we would be charged for it, but when we turned in our gear, the staffer demanded 300$ cash, the entire damage deposit for a single ATV. There was no assessment of damage to the ATVs, only the sand on the handlebars was used as evidence. The ATVs were in poor shape when we rented them: every bit of plastic was ziptied onto the ATVs, and one was missing the instrument cluster already. When I asked why my four 60$ damage and belt waivers didn't cover it, he said that cookies were "reckless driving", which was not explicitly stated in the videos or documentation. Since he had four sets of 300$ damage deposits for the four ATVs, he said that if we didn't pay cash directly, he would have to take 500$ from our deposit for tipping the ATV to make up for the State Park fees and taxes. But this was all based off the unstated policy that anything that happens is worth the entire damage deposit (or more). There was not 300$ worth of damage on the ATV, and there was no statement or agreement that the entire damage deposit would be waived at the drop of a hat. That's not how damage deposits work. I can understand charging a fee for some incident to help offset cumulative damage that occurs over time, but our waiver should have offset the cost, and the shady strong arm tactics holding our entire deposit hostage over an imaginary damage cost was outright scummy. If you rent from them, they will be friendly, and then look for every last bit of money they can wring out of you without causing a fight.

Do Not Try SunBuggy rentals - Horrible experience with SunBuggy Rentals and deeply disappointed with how customers are treated, especially families with young children. Faulty vehicle and safety. The buggy given to us was faulty and broke down within the first 5 minutes of driving, leaving us stranded through no fault of our own. Our family, including two young kids, was stuck out on the dunes on a cold winter evening for hours waiting for help to arrive, which felt unsafe and completely unacceptable for a business advertising family fun. Extremely poor customer service Instead of apologizing or taking responsibility for clearly defective equipment, SunBuggy blamed us and added a $200 "penalty," claiming we caused the damage without offering any valid explanation or proof. Staff were rude, dismissive, and showed no empathy for the situation, despite multiple similar complaints from other customers about being blamed for breakdowns and charged extra. Inhumane treatment of children The most shocking part was that staff refused to let our small kids board the shuttle back until the penalty was paid, effectively holding our family at the dunes until we agreed. No concern was shown for the cold, the kids' comfort, or the stress they were under; it felt like profit and penalties mattered more to SunBuggy than basic human decency. This experience turned what was supposed to be a fun family outing into an exhausting and upsetting ordeal, and we left feeling cheated and mistreated. Given the combination of unsafe equipment, unfair charges, and downright inhuman customer service, SunBuggy is a company that cannot be recommended and should be avoided by families looking for a safe and respectful experience.

DO NOT RISK Renting from SunBuggy! They will steal your deposit and provide unsafe equipment! - Sun Buggy has stolen $500 from us. I got a group of friends together for my birthday to go ride in the dunes and we rented 3 Atvs for 2 hours, and another family we were with rented 5 Atvs. After an hour my friends ATV broke down, and the other family had 2 Atvs break down. One of the Atvs was 50ft away from being returned and the guy was driving 5 mph and the belt broke on the ATV. And they charged us both $500! We had ordered all of these ATVs the day before so we could get the “early special”. They charged our friends family $500 and a week later charged us $500 on my credit card basically not returning the deposit and claiming we broke the belts on there ATVs after riding them for one hour. One ATV they claimed the family broke had a child on it going very slow the whole time. I am hoping to file a joint lawsuit and or get the news/ police involved with this company. They are clearly stealing people’s money and making the county of San Luis Obispo look bad for allowing these scams to happen to so many families. It should be illegal for them to not maintain their vehicles and then over charge customers for their mistakes. They received that morning from us an extra $1000 on top of our rental costs. Also there was another man in line trying to get his $500 deposit back from the day before and they told him to call there non existent 1-800 number as a joke. It so sad to see across this board this happen to so many nice families. I would be happy if they just returned my deposit but instead they are making me go through all this when they just shouldn’t run an honest business and not steal
